What do you think about souvenir cups?

Well I figured a response from the park was better than the you can-you can't-you can-you can't merry-go-round...

We got one of these this year, and it's been pretty good.. We typically just leave it in the car, then when we take a lunch break or whatever, go to the car, run back in with the bottle, fill it, and head back out. We have not yet been charged for a refill, even though they scan the bottle and the register shows that we owe the 99c.. Do they typically not enforce that rule at all? Or maybe it is only done on weekends? We were there Sunday evening and Monday and had free refills both days.

Every-time I go with my bottle, they charge me the .99 cent refills. Lately they've been offering me to pay $5.00 and that would give me unlimited refills all day. I usually just go for the .99 cent refills and fill up 1-3 times. That way I don't drive my friends crazy by having to pee over and over. Lol

Do cups from one park generally work at another. I was at Carowinds today and there was a lady who was getting 99 cent refills all day with a Kings Island cup, but as I left the park I asked a guy who seemed like he knew what he was doing and he said they aren't supposed to work at other Cedar Fair parks. Did that lady just have a faulty barcode?

Souvenir cups generally work between parks without issue. That said, for your own sake, I might contact any parks you're interested in and pose that question for clarification. Technically, a Cedar Point souvenir cup is to be used at Cedar Point, but the unofficial policy is that they can be used wherever. Some parks have officially acknowledged this policy on social media, but an email is just as good.

Just don't, heaven forbid, try to get water from Coca-Cola Marketplace at Carowinds. I had an employee yank it right out of my hand and say I cant have it.. On a hot 4th of July weekend, no less.

They were giving free water all day today due to hot temperatures. They were actually announcing it all over the park. I've heard that generally if you ask for a cup of water then they give it to you.

Indeed and I've never been denied water, except in that case. She was insistent that I go elsewhere, after having filled up a cup and started to drink it. I made sure to let the cashier know I just had water so they didn't think I was running off without paying. Instead of even saying that they prefer you go elsewhere for the Kinzel cups™, she yanked it right out of my hand. *sigh*

Meanwhile, Kings Island's Coca-Cola Marketplace had no issue with the same thing.

Carowinds reportedly has a 'free' refill souvenir bottle available for $24.99. I would look into if we were able to go to the park often. Maybe we'll see it offered at CP in the future.

I can vouch for that, and I did get a free water at Coca Cola Market place.

That's nothing new or special. You can ask for a free cup of water at any food stand that has a soda fountain any day of the operating season.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

But you still have to carry a bottle! Why can't they add "free" drinks for $24.99 to your pass and save the cost of the bottle?

^ I like that idea! I would buy that in a heartbeat.

I would pay $39.99 for that.

I hope you reported her for yanking it out of your hand. That's just plain rude!

Did anybody hear about the new policy with the cups for next year? Unlimited refills!

I still don't like them. I still need to carry it around all day and you still need to store it while riding. I'm still hoping they will come out with a season pass add-on where you get a disposable cup.

They're an annoyance. Parks sometimes give them to people at enthusiasts events so that we can have free refills -- mine goes quickly to the car. I'd rather pay for a few over-priced soft drinks then have to carry the cup around all day.

Introducing a new type of beverage program,Unlimited Refills for Souvenir Cups, to the park's market seems like a pretty solid move to me.

To each his own.

Fixed that, even though you new what was implied. :)

That would be funnier if souvenir cups were a new type of beverage program. :-)

Actually, I didn't "new" what was implied; I operate on the assumption that what you post is what you mean to say.
