What's Wrong With Wicked Twister?

It could be absolutely nothing...I just love speculation :)

First rollback=opening weekend '09

Tilt-A -Whirl,
Understood, however Cap Ex does not have to be completed in one season. I know my description of this "Shortcut" may sound RCT-like and pointless, but I see it both a benefit for families and Halloweekends. While a lot of people talk of patterns and they have to build coasters, and predictability. While none of those exist, there should still be a generalized master plan in place to guide future expansion decisions. I agree we don't need shops and games and food stands across that stretch, that would be pointless and is not what I suggested. In fact, while those are strategically placed, there is more emphases on placing Shops, food and Games near Entrances and Gates.... You'll get more revenue off those exiting than those just wandering around. When you walk in the Main Entrance to CP what are you faced with besides the Carousel.... About 100-200 feet of nothing but shops and food. Walk into Kings Island, you are faced with not only a graceful view of the Scale Model of the Eiffel Tower back dropping an array of fountains, but a whole street of Shops and Food. I could write that list with any park.... So I don't suggest an Island of shops and food. I suggested adding a few small foot print family rides and the following , as real ROI is involved in September and October.
For Halloween, the Island has the potential to grow into a giant Terror area and a great advertising point. Halloweekends have been growing over the years and the big investment for the pathways would be Halloween. Some people have torn apart my idea that it is for Halloween because it would be pointless to have this area in the summer. Having an established pathway to and from the island saves on manhours needed to construct the routes to get to and from the island. Yes they already have a temporary removable bridge but permanent bridges can allow ongoing changes to make the Halloween themes during the summer.
Is it not pointless to have the old Carousel pavilion back in Frontiertown just sitting there all year not creating revenue until September? They could have left that as an eating pavilion and rebuilt it every August which would have kept more of a crowd to generate the revenue at the shops in Frontiertown. There are areas for Halloween that just sit there unused except two months out of the year. The thought of using Millennium Island creates possibilities for future expansion while generating continuous operating revenue.

Yes my thoughts at this moment are pointless and does not generate enough revenue for justification, but Cap Ex does not need to be completed in one season. Maverick was two seasons (maybe three if you include the removal of White Water Landing). If you look at the area around Wicked Twister, that area used Cap Ex in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and finally in 2006 it may have had it's own budget for the over all renovation project, and it used Cap ex in each of those years. After all they don't fully announce all Cap Ex every year, the release is always, this major attraction or change and other minor improvements that you really won't notice anyways because of the big attraction.. My thoughts right now are just stage 1.

Hey if this is just a new coaster or water attraction, that is good too. I just don't see them using the island for the outback areas of rides.

Just your usual come and go poster. One week I am here, then I disappear for a while.

I have always thought that they should build some kind of flume ride like wwl, but also make it a dark ride/ shooter attraction as well.

They could kill 2 birds with that, and it would be a great family attraction.

They have a ride like that at sixflags St louis.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I just came back from Cedar Point Today to get my Pass processed and while I was there, I noticed that Wicked Twister still does not have the back spike. Does anyone know if it will be open on opening day? We are 2 weeks away and I want to be able to ride it on opening day.

Well if it isn't up within the week I'd be worried. Cause I doubt they'd have it ready in time for testing by that time. But they still have some time so all is not lost. Just keep thinking happy thoughts.:)

It is actually my favorite ride in the park so I will be annoyed if it is a no go.

I'm going out to get some air.

If you have a pass, what difference does it make if WT isn't ready for opening day? You'll have the rest of the 2009 season to ride it.

It is a huge deal for me. I ride it more than anything. You are right about having a pass but I have a new job which is Mon - Fri 8:30 - 4:30 and will be living 5 hrs away which means I can pretty much only go Sat's which are sucky busy.

On opening weekend it is the Canadian long weekend. Not sure if this will make it crowded and I hope not but I can go Sun and Mon because of the holiday. I wont be back on a non holiday until Halloweekends with the exception of sucky busy Sats....

I will be closer to Canada's Wonderland but it really sucks in comparison and they have nothing comparable to WT.

I'm going out to get some air.

I just found out more Information about the status of Wicked Twister. According to Screamscape they hope to have the track piece up soon. Here's the Link. http://www.screamscape.com/html/cedar_point.htm

Tony addressed this weeks ago in a blog post. The post was removed, but the answer was posted here.
