Non-platinum pass resort guests get in to Early Entry (an hour early) with their resort pass, they don't need a platinum pass holder.

Just to clarify, when the gates open for early entry everybody (passholders, resort guests and ticketholders) are allowed through the gates. There are temporary barricades set up on the main midway up to Johnny Rockets. Only passholders and resort guests are allowed through the barricades to the rides by showing their pass or resort card to the guard by Johnny Rockets. Ticket holders must stay behind the barricades. They may visit a couple of gift shops or Donut time while they wait for the official opening of the park.

As stated earlier, there are days when they let everybody in early for the reasons mentioned.
