Wind

The rails are there so that a gondola doesn't bang against the tower itself. There's a huge difference between saying a gondola has hit the tower due to a gust of wind as opposed to the rails, which are designed for such an event.

You're not telling me anything I don't know. I already talked to Pete as he PMed me, and I simply told him that whenever an event like that occurred, we would call into Park Operations and tell them that a cabin hit the tower. It makes for a quicker conversation rather than saying "a cabin has hit the guide rails on the tower". I know there are guide rails there. So in other words, when I say they hit the tower, I am talking about the guide rails, but failed to mention that.
