2007 Smoking Policy

^Same here. It's really easy considering there are large signs nearby stating the policy that you can point to, so there's really no excuse not to.

Bryan and I probably passed through that gate moments apart. And yes, what Bryan said is what I meant. Anyway, if you can walk into the park with a lit cigarette in your mouth, then that pretty much sums up how management feels about the new "rule."

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I did kinda leave this out. But when I was there last weekend, I was only asked one time to put out my cig (I dont smoke in lines). It wasnt by police or any sweep, it was by a spookster in Fright Zone. And when I was asked, I immediatly extinguished. Everyone else the whole weekend never said a word.

R.I.P. MrScott... You're greatly missed!!

Why would you intentionally walk around the park smoking if you know you're not allowed? I really don't understand people like you.

^Yeah... It's not a game..

"I think I'll go around the park throwing garbage around all day just to see how many people say something to me about it."

Many people smoke because they just don't pay attention to the signs, and others smoke just because they're jerks and don't care. But doing it while you know you're not supposed to is just dumb.

This Sunday I seen the most amoun of cig smoking out of my four visits this year. Also cigars, I smelled tons of cigars. Did someone have a baby?

When I say worse...I mean people smoking cigs right by the Maverick exit / Chik-Fila-A, and a police officer walking in to the Maverick souvenir store not even saying a thing.

I gave up about half way through the day of telling people not to smoke.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

It was more then obvious that the people were smoking.

The police just are probably not given a strong enough order to cut down on smoking.

They protect Maverick...I notice a police officer literally camps out at Maverick (and text messages people too!) all day.

One thing I think that should have a sign is "No Alcohol in Line", and then through-out the line "No Smoking" signs.

I noticed countless people try and get in to Maverick with beers, and you no longer can.

There is that place that sells beer though like 400ft away from Maverick though so I notice quite a few people come up with full cups.

Already there. You'd be surprised at the number of people who light up while standing near a no-smoking sign.

Doesn't surprise me.

The lines should all be fitted with speakers so they can play theme music like Maverick. But more importantly....

Every couple songs they should after a song play a 30 second long "Line Rules" list. No smoking, littering, spitting, short explanation of line cutting rule, and no cameras of any kind on this ride at CP.

I am sure we could think of more to make it a 3 minute long speech.

^ - it won't make anyone listen any more. There's usually several thousand people each day who think their mother was hired that morning.

^^ Six Flags does this and it seems to be quite effective. They mention no smoking, on ride photos, and line jumping. It's short and to the point.

i would like to say that during my weekend of Sept 28th-30th, I witnessed security telling smokers to put them about 4-5 times. It was good to see them doing that. Usually, when I see smokers, there is no security around.

I think it comes down to whats going on in the park.

If a cop has something on his mind or a place to eventually be. The smoking thought goes to the back of there head.

Is that chicken little gone punk in your avatar?

This wouldn't be known if you didn't work at the park or know some of the things that changed mid-season, but there is a valid reason for the CPPD carrying and using their cell phones. There are certain things that may not be pertinent to put out over the airwaves, thus the use of cell phones. Now, if they are using txt messaging for that, I'm not sure, but I do know that policy was put into effect about halfway through the season, and it is in constant legitimate use by the CPPD.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I think a good solution to this problem is not only additional signs (and I am on board with exits idea, stickers on trash cans) but putting a designated smoking section near the exit of every major ride. This is where I see the most offenders.

The whole point of designated smoking sections is to have them a tad off the midway. If you just herd all the smokers right at the ride exits, the non-smokers still have to endure the smoke. What's the point in that?

You can have all the signage and smoking areas you want. But, without enforcement, no one's ever going to listen.

I bet a Cedar Point collectible soda that we will hear audible rules next year.

I think a better plan would be more signage... even banners similar to Holiday World would be good.

Which is why I italicized near. ;)

Not sure if you are a smoker or not, but one of the first things i like to do after an intense ride (other than re-ride) is have a smoke and I see many others who feel the same way.

Also, they should move the areas if they want them off the midway, several of them are near entrances to major attractions and concessions.
