2016 announcement time

If CP is getting a dive coaster I would call it a major expansion/expenditure. Just as big as Banshee IMO. Wouldn't CP want to get a large ROI. I don't understand your statement if you are saying that the larger projects get more direct attention. This 2016 project has recieved attention from the park, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it "direct" attention (as in what Carowinds is doing).

I would say at this point that the park is so well known for its bigger taller better mentality when it comes to coasters that they just expect everyone to expect it and they just plan to casually drop a bomb sometime this month.

I could see a few more things "developing" before the actual announcement since Jason said that the announcement will be in the park and that it'll be something unlike anything they've done before (or something to that degree). But even if there isn't a crazy marketing scheme for 2016 and they just announce it with little effort, that won't "take away" from the quality of what is coming.

Keep in mind that Jason McClure also said that the theming for Rougarou would be on a level never seen before from the park.

So far, I've seen some textured lighting around the lift hill. That, and.. Um.. Shiny signs on the station.

Take it all in with a grain of salt.

Don't forget the mist and sound effects that didn't last half the season.

^ Hey now, that's not fair. There is still some mist. ;)

I remember what Jason said.

We're going to have some thematic elements that, maybe, are a little different for Cedar Point. Something people don't always expect from us. That will enhance the ride experience, especially at night.

So yes, were going to have cool lighting effects, there's going to be some sound effects..........

Given that, he's technically not wrong on what he said they were going to deliver. He might have embellished it a bit but they still did add some stuff. Sometimes, things are planned, talked about, hyped up, then are cancelled........it happens. I'm not saying that it wouldn't have been cool to see some kind of theming done for Rougarou. But perhaps something came up that forced them to make the decision to scrap those plans (they DID have a lot on their plate this past offseason). And who knows, maybe they simply ran out of time to make those "things" and are waiting for Halloweekends or next year, to add those things. That's probably unlikely, but I still like Rougarou, regardless of what kind of theming elements they use or don't use.

However, my original point is still valid. Regardless of how much theming was or wasn't added to Rougarou, all that ultimately mattered was the quality of the ride. And we all agree that it has been a success and great improvement.

Jason McClure was right. Rougarou has theming we haven't see before. We've never seen a ride sign with claw scrapes on it, or fog/mist at the bottom of a hill, or a floor that disappears--lowers yes, but not disappear. Some people just expect too much.

I didn't forget about those, or the rougarou that we were supposed to see lurking about the lagoon.

However, I have yet to see or hear either of them.

Gotta disagree with you on the "we all" part as I disagree. The two big pain points (literally) for me were pretty tied as the standing position and the head-banging. The latter has not significantly changed. It's a mild improvement, a bit more rideable, but still painful on my ears if I don't brace myself.

Sorry, should have worded it as "the general consensus". Sure, opinions may vary but the overall review is that it was a success and improvement. Personally, Ive experienced some head banging here and there. But it's nowhere near as bad as what it was like on Mantis.

Again, that's my experience. But the fact that I find myself wanting to ride Rougarou during every visit makes it a winner in my book.

I think the headbanging is just as bad as it was on Mantis. Perhaps more, given that (at least on my ride back in May), Rougarou was hauling ass, so the headbanging was arguably worse. Hard to say, because I'd not been on Mantis in a LONG time.

That said, I would still agree that it's an improvement over Mantis.

Im not sure exactly what you are saying, but I guess I agree. Look at Rougarou, it was announced in a tweet from Tony. No teasing whatsoever. Wouldn't be surprised if that is what happens this year, too.

I can't see Cedar Point announcing a brand new coaster in a tweet. I expect an actual formal announcement. However, they did market Rougarou as a brand new coaster so maybe they will.

I think it will be similar to Gatekeeper's announcement.

I do too. I think they'll have a live feed of the announcement for us to watch from home, while doing it in front of the roller coaster timeline on the fence.

Yeah, what's up with the mist barely running anymore? Also, when were there sound effects??

If the wind is blowing against the wind them the mist just flows into the rocks on the side making it pointless. They have it on a clear day.

If they do do a live announcement, I would imagine they would use the luminosity stage.

So they are having the Coaster Campout somewhere on the land that was cleared for the new ride next year. Could that be the reason why they planted grass?

They planted grass so it wasn't a mud/weed pit eyesore all summer, simple as that.
