2016 Platinum Passholder Benefits

I don't think a screenshot showing the list used to say something will matter much.

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

You'd be surprised.

I thought I remember seeing that on their list of 100 reasons to get a season pass, but I'm not seeing it anymore. I can't say I'd be surprised if they did eliminate it due to Valravn.

They did had it listed as 85 but has changed 85 to something else. I do have a screenshot of it saying it though.

Do you mind sharing the screenshot that shows that? I will look at other parks to see if they got it now, and looking at the top 100 list sounds like a great idea!

I just checked a random July Saturday for Fast Lane Plus...$149.00?!?!?!?!?

Opening weekend appears to be in the $105 ballpark! The popular dates will definitely cost more. I can see $105 in some cases, but $149 is a bit higher than expected, but demand is sure to move the dial!

Why, so you can scam the park into giving you a discount?

Regarding the price in July... Good, the price from the beginning was far too low (and still is). And even better, no discount for buying multiples apparently. I wonder if too many people were gaming the system by partnering up with strangers in line.

No need to scare any park or personnel into anything. I just wanted tot see it with my own eyes. We got the tip last season about the perk before one of our visits, and it really came in handy for those of us with the platinum pass. I guess I was just more interested in the wording. I will look at other parks in the chain to see if they decided to test that perk there in 2016 or to get rid of the perk altogether. Again, either way is fine. It does not change our decision to go with Fast Lane Plus or not. Living nearly 11 hours away, time at CP is more valuable than it was when I came on every weekend that I did not have USMCR duty when I only lived 3 hours away in Michigan. As for last year's perk, I forget if there was an option online for platinum passholders to select the perk option or if passholders have to get that at the park. Being that we are bringing 3 passholders up there this late spring, I'd hate to throw $75 away by not getting clarification on the perk or lack thereof.

As for the volume discount, I am a bit surprised too. For us, I tested that out too since I was in the market for 3. I was curious how big of a unit price gap there was between buying 3 and buying 4. I saw the price was not different. Since we just needed 3, I was glad. But, I'm sure CF has run the numbers on the volume discount promo!

I was able to get in touch with the park and confirm that the upgrade deal was not brought back for 2016. The lady also mentioned that the volume discount was not brought back either!

Can someone refresh my memory what the cost is to bring a guest for a platinum passholder? Are there cheaper options?

Coaster Addict Dwayne's avatar

I believe that they are finalizing the Bring-a-Friend calendar for Cedar Point as we speak - at least that is what the guest services lady said today. I'd assume that it will be along the same lines as the other parks like Carowinds, but nothing is guaranteed. For what it's worth, I believe Carowinds is offering cheaper bring a friend pricing for Mother's Day weekend (close to $19 or $20 per ticket), but I am not sure if that will be at Cedar Point that same weekend [at that same price] since it is opening weekend.

I got an e-mail last week that bring a friend prices on May 7 and 8 were $18 in honor of the 18 roller coasters now at Cedar Point (limit 1 per pass holder).

Good to know... that sounds like a good deal, and it sounds like Fast Lane Plus will be very important to reride everything in the park during opening weekend! Still, I'm glad to hear that the park is going to have quite the crowd!

I have always been there on Morther's Day, and every time it has never been crowded. Personally, I hope the bring a friend discount doesn't change that.

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

I've taken my daughter on Mother's Day the past two years and plan to take both of my kids this year. We go to church, take our mothers out to lunch and then head to the park for a few hours. My wife doesn't ride much anyways, so she enjoys having the "day off."

I agree about the crowds being light that day too. Two years ago, we got 3 rides on MF in 20 minutes.

We're staying at the breakers, and upon exiting the park earlier today they tell us we must get a hand stamp, as the platinum and season passes (we have one of each in our group) don't scan more than once. Has anyone ever encountered this? Just yesterday I got back in with my platinum pass, and all last year I did it multiple times.

This has been the case, at least policy wise, for at least the 5 years we have been passholders. It is somewhat dumb because it's not like someone else can use your pass with the picture coming up on the screen. I've always assumed it had something to do with the software used for the ticket scanning, but that's a guess on my part.

My friend tested this at Carowinds. He got a handstamp, but on the way back in he tried using his Platinum Pass, but the software recognized that it had already been used that day, so he used his handstamp.

Kings Island is the only park I can think of offhand that officially allows passes to be used for reentry.

My assumption as to why most parks only allow a pass to be scanned once a day for admission is an attempt to reduce fraud. Can an human (who is better at facial recognition than any computer), really tell if they are looking at a picture of me or a picture of my brother. To make it harder, the picture might be a couple of years old, facial hair might of changed, and you might be expected to keep a line moving.

By keeping a scan only once policy, most parks are attempting to prevent similarly looking people who are pass-sharing (quite illegal) from visiting on the same day.

And yes, I do know hand-stamps can be forged, but that is another topic entirely.

Cedar Point did allow the reuse of Passes for entry last year, so this would be a change in policy again to the way it was before last year.

Did all passes scan multiple times last year? I thought multi-scanning was limited to marina passes, regular platinum and season pass holders still had to get a hand stamp. That is how it is this year also.
