2018 Platinum Pass

I just got my first ever season pass. Platinum of course. Just wanted to put my feelers out there to see how think about that pass!?

So far this year it hasn't worked. I’ve been up there every day this month they won’t accept it or let me in.

Like anything, it's a great value of you use it. The food and merchandise discounts can really add up over a season. Try and visit some other Cedar Fair parks. Kings Island Winterfest is a must in my opinion. Plus you can use your pass for discounts at Quaker Steak and Bay Harbor in the off season if you are around Sandusky. Congrats on your pass!I

Does anyone know what the bring-a-friend discount is?

It sounds like you bought into something you don’t know much about.

I usually get someone in for around $40 (might also add tax)

Yeah, $42 for most days. You can find days where it's cheaper, I'm sure this calendar eventually will update to show that. If you have or know someone with Triple A, that's the best option, lowest price plus no tax.

I've gotten bring a friend rates as low as $25 on a HalloWeekends Friday evening.

I really feel we get a great value out of it when we use it at other parks. Last year we planned a beach-bound road-trip and hit Kings Dominion and Kings Island on the way home to Ohio. We're thinking of doing something similar this year, but perhaps venturing further south to Carowinds; or doing the opposite and heading north to Canada's Wonderland.

The bottom line is, as long as you visit the park enough times, you win.

There are a lot of of perks embedded in the purchase; make sure to check them all out as you might be able to save money or get deals you may not be aware of.

Well, I didn't buy it. It was a gift for Christmas. I know most of it. I just couldn't find the bring a friend discount price on here. So yeah. I kinda know / I didn't buy it.

Carowinds is great. I highly recommend to visit that park.

One of the few Cedar Fair parks I have never been to. The kids are now old/tall enough to essentially ride anything, so we can start to stretch our wings a little but when we travel with parks in mind. All we need to find is a quiet beach nearby, and we are good to go.

Enjoy the pass. I remember years ago when my wife and I first got them...back in 2004. It was so relaxing to be able to visit the park without that "we need to do everything!" mentality. No matter what happened...rain/rides down, etc...you knew you could come back at any time, and it was very freeing.

I'm not sure how often you go or what your history with the park is, but I would recommend taking advantage of that aspect. Slow down and explore the little nooks and crannies of Cedar Point you might typically walk by (at a fast pace). What a great gift!

We visited Carowinds for 2 days in August on the way to Newberry S.C. to see the eclipse in totality. Stayed in a cabin at Fort Wilderness. Loved the park, especially Fury 325 and Intimidator. Amazing rides, especially Fury, imo a better ride than MF, although you can't beat the view from the lift on Millie.

yayy! I can't wait. This is going to be the best season!

Carowinds is a great park! Fury alone is worth the trip. And the platinum pass has been a great value for me since I've gotten it. I just renewed a few days ago with my Christmas money. And I got the drink plan. I think I'm going to cave and get the dining plan this year. I would use it at CP and KI for sure.

I didn't get the drink plan until it could be loaded onto your pass. Very convenient, and it sure pays for itself quickly. Would recommend adding it. Other than fresh-cut fries, we don't eat in the park much, just walk over to Famous Dave's, so the food plan isn't worth it, but to each his own.

Of all the CF parks I’ve visited I’d say Carowinds (2017) ranks with KBF(2003 w/ Xcelerator closed for maintenance) towards the bottom. But I’m sure that has more to do with my wife being miserable the entire time we were at Carowinds than the park itself.

Here’s an odd Platinum Pass question... If you renew your pass, you get one bring-a-friend ticket. For the parks that did the event, were those valid during WinterFest? Also when did they become valid? After Labor Day? I’m kinda mapping out my 2018 and might try to figure a trip to finally use some of these renewal perks. We have never used the free friend tickets or free FL+...

"Wife being miserable" - I hear ya! It was about 95 when we were there, and she's not much of a coaster a coaster fan. Would have had more fun by myself.

Not sure what her issue was that day but it started in the hotel room then continued in the park and through the evening afterward (park closed at 8pm). Being “hot” (mid 80s) didn’t help; and Carowinds isn’t the shadiest park around.
