No, I think it's because The Voyage is that much better.

I was kinda surprised on Saturday to see $3.75 for pop at Kings Island! I wonder if it's a Coke thing?

When I was at CP opening day I went to the Fudge place by the Main Gate and got a pop (the normal bottle) and was charged $3.09. Is there tax on pop because at Kings Island i went to a shop and bought a bottle and they charged me normal price of 3.75.

Well, Waldameer has 24oz. cups of soda for $2.12 and free parking along with, in my opinion, a better woodie than The Voyage.

If they or Kennywood offered season passes I'd never purchase one from a CF park again.

Man, the Voyage was great, but I don't know how you can just keep re-riding that thing. I could only take 4 rides.

On the curve around where it starts to turn to the left, then right with a left banked turn is really intense and painful. The rest is pretty good, except I just couldn't take the intensity. I guess I am a wuss :)

How many sodas do you buy at CP is the main question. First of all if you are hungry there is a johnsonville brat stand near Red Garter that gives you a brat a bag of chips and a small (12 ounce) soda for 6 bucks.

I really can't call 12 oz small, but if you really need a 20 oz soda for three bucks one time during the day I don't see a big deal there. All of the rides are FREE. Yes you pay an entrance fee for the park, but really. THE RIDES ARE FREE. I wouldn't like to see their power bill, but something has to pay for it.

Honestly I'd rather pay a couple more bucks and get a 16 oz beer.

If you don't like it go ride some crappy carnival ride.

Jeff it is really sick to see how much bitching you do about a park that lets you in on so much. Quit biting the hand.

bholcomb's avatar

The park lets him in on so much?

Also, I'd rather pay the electric bill than the maintenance bill or the labor bill.

Hey holcomb why dont you try to stick that nose a little deeper in his ass.

The point was that they need some income to pay for the day to day expenses.

Bholcomb i can get you in touch with someone that would let you pay the power bill.

I wouldn't say my 'nose is in his ass' considering I have had very opposite and vocal views to his, but I still needed to call you out for being a douchebag unnecessarily.

Now that we have that out of the way, when are you going to pay the maintanence bill.

crazy horse's avatar

Naaaaa.

Cedarpoint advertises first energy(I think I got the name right), and cp gets a good deal on the power bill.

Plus, they don't really pay anything for the pepsi to begin with.

Do you honestly think they don't make truckloads of money in this park.

$12 to park.

$42 to get in.

$9 slushies.

$12 dried up low quality burger with some cold handfull of crappy fries.

$7 beer.

Way overpriced crappy hotel rooms. Cost us over $300 to stay 2 nights at a below econolodge room.

$24 pizza.

And lets not forget the $12 footlong at subway where you can combo it for only $5 more.

Divide that into the millions of people that visit the park every year.

I have a feeling that they have plenty of money to keep the lights on.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.

I do think you are a bit out of line - or simply a troll.... so back under your bridge with the rest of your billy goat friends!!!

I forgot it is 10 bucks to park. I would know we were just there.

Someone has a bone to pick, it seems.

I would say that Jeff is more than justified in his complaining about anything at the park, or the entire chain for that matter considering he is a unit holder with a vested financial interest in how the company performs. Can you say the same for yourself? I highly doubt that. Also, I agree with almost every complaint that Jeff has ever brought up because I can understand where he's coming from, and I often share similar complaints after visiting the park for the past 20 years, and working there for two. The price of a drink is ridiculous, plain and simple. Kinzel knows that its ridiculous, but also knows he has a mostly captive audience that is limited in their immediate options because they "have to eat." I can count on one hand how many soft drinks I bought in the park last summer, and it was because it costs so much! Lower the price a dollar and I wouldn't even blink or think about it before spending $2 for a drink (if I still drank pop, which I no longer do, for the most part).

If you don't want to be seen as a troll, I suggest finding a more intelligent way to express your obviously rage-filled views (hey, I went down that road once, I'll admit it). Until that time, you come across as a troll and will likely be viewed and responded to as such.

Parking is 8 bones this year. I'll just have to deal with that one. Still in line with what other places are charging (except Kennywood of course!).

Parking is $12 this year if you don't have a season pass.

That's to pay for the $2/car in capital improvements to the parking lot since last season.

:sarcasm mode off:

It says $10 on the CP website.

crazy horse's avatar

It may be $10.

For some reason I have $12 in my head.

Six flags is up to $15 a car this year.

Okay, so admission is whatever it is, and parking is $10-$15 depending on what you drive. Not much you can do about those, but if you visit frequently enough you can buy a season pass and get your money's worth (my CP pass had paid for itself this year before Cedar Point even opened!).

But the food and drink is another matter. Do you have a limit? I know that I do, and Cedar Point passed it a long time ago. If the food is too expensive, then why do you continue to buy it? Consumers are not powerless in a market economy, but consumer power requires a certain amount of consumer discipline.

Will I go down on the Frontier Trail and buy a bratwurst combo with chips and a 12-ounce bottle of pop for $6? Sure; to me that's actually a pretty darned good deal! But am I going to pay $13 for a foot-long Subway sub? Absolutely not! If I really want Subway, I'll exit the park and go down on Perkins where I can buy one for $5. I don't even know what Cedar Point is charging for pop these days because whatever it is, it's more than I am willing to pay.

I have to ask...am I just being cheap and out of touch here? I don't understand why people pay obnoxious prices and then complain about it. The answer is, don't pay the obnoxious price. Seek out an alternative. Enough people do that, and you'll see the prices become less obnoxious.

Of course, my fear is that people are indeed doing this, but instead of avoiding obnoxious food and drink prices in the park, they are simply avoiding the park altogether. It would explain the small crowd yesterday...!
