4D ???

After a recent trip to CP in May, I was on TTD with a guest from Phoenix, AZ. I asked if this was his first time on TTD and he said "yes", but he thought it would be similar to Superman the Escape at SFMM, a park he was familiar with since his daughter lived in the LA area.

I was on business in LA in 1998 and rode Superman and told him with the exception of the ride manufacturer, the rides are not on the same page at all. Keep in mind, this conversation took place in the train waiting to be launched, so it was a quick conversation.

The ride blasts off and as usual it was a great one. He told me it was better than Superman (obvioulsy), and told me it was one of the best ride he's been on.

He then asked me if ever been on X? I was told it's one of the most insane rides to go on. I get home and check out some POV and other vids on YT and I have to admit....it looks pretty insane.

#1. For all of you " X is always down and has plenty of mechanical problems", see TTD.

#2. CP is moving in a new direction, i.e. Maverick not the tallest or fastest...but as many have claimed here on this site is the "Best ride in the park".

#3. Has anyone here been on "X"?

#4. What do you think about a ride like that at CP?

Thanks everyone :).

I doubt that we'll ever see another S&S/Arrow 4D. Both times that they were put in, the companies went through a lot of trouble.

But I would'nt mind seeing a small Ball coaster from Intamin in the area of Demon Drop (if it is finally taken out). It's close enough to a 4D coaster...I guess.

No.

Although I'd like to see one. And I loved X.

X was one of the most insane rides I've been on before - in a good way. I might be in the minority in thinking it was actually smooth. It's no El Toro as far as smoothness, but it's smoother than a lot of steel coasters I've been on. The whole seat rotation is almost beyond description as it's completely disorienting.

X was running the entire day I was there, but again, I might be in the minority there. Maybe the rumored new trains will remedy that.

The ride is one of the most inefficient at loading that I'm not sure CP would ever consider one. Then again, they put in Skyhawk, so I could be wrong.

It would be fun to have one at CP, but I don't really see it coming. After the recent difficulties they've have with "new technology", I don't know they'd consider a coaster that's never had a simple life.

I'm going on a business trip to Southern California in a few weeks, and if there is any time at all to spare, I plan on going to SFMM, almost solely to experience X, Superman, Tatsu, and Riddler's Revenge. All four of these coasters have been teasing me via internet photos/videos for so long, and now I may finally have my chance. Back on topic, I'm not sure that a 4D coaster is what Cedar Point really needs/wants. I think that the movement for less "extreme" in imagination, yet still pushing the barrier of fun is the best route for amusment parks now.

Superman is lame. Riddlers Revenge is definitely better than Mantis. X is worth it. Goliath is a snoozer. Scream was decent. Didn't ride Tatsu. Deja Vu rocks when it runs.

There. That's SFMM in a nutshell.

Ben got that perfect. Although in my case, I didn't get to ride X, and Tatsu is easily the most amazing coaster they have. At least if you exclude X that is.

No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I've been on it, and while it's fun in an absolutely insane kind of way, I don't think CP wants to invest in one. X is already down one day a week for maintenance, the outside seats tend to rattle and bang people around a lot, and the amount of money needed to build a decent sized ride is always going to be high because of all of the supports and whatnot needed to accommodate the trains.

I kinda hope CP doesn't build one, at least for awhile, because they still seem kind of gimmicky right now. It was a fun ride, but nothing a park NEEDS right now.

Cedarpointdude021170 have you seen Eejanaika?

I think CP is much more likely to get a ride similar but bigger to Kirnu or Inferno. It would make a nice little addition in place of the Aquatic Stadium or as CPguru said it would fit perfectly in place of Demon Drop.

Tatsu is easily the best flyer out there as far as placement in a park and best use of the flying position on a coaster. Besides the forceful backwards loop, the rest of the ride is pretty tame. But, the sheer height and amazing view of the mountain scenery makes the ride stellar. It's truly a not miss coaster at SFMM. I really don't see why people love Deja Vu so much. It's a glorified boomerang which sucks just as much as the other ones. Being slammed into a restraint at 90* isn't my idea of fun.

God you fanboys are greedy.

Why are you even on this site?

I hope you weren't referring to me :(.

What kind of question is that? Oh let me guess, this site is only for people from OH and MI who have season passes.

And jugga, what exactly is trollbuzz? I'd like to check it out:).

Here's what I'd like to know.

1)What is the reliability of Eejanaika?
2)Were the other issues of "X" resolved with this newest installation?

No cedarpointdude, I was referring to the guy above my post. Sorry for the confusion :)

No problem CP4eva04

When I was at coastermania, a person that works there that I used to know, told me that within the next 3 years, CP is going to put in a 4D coaster. He told that they are planning to take out demon drop and remodel that whole area of the park and possibly extend the park out to the parking lot.

I don't know how reliable this source is considering he just works as a maintenance dude at the park, but this is what he was saying. He also that Maverick was pulling 9Gs with the heartline and that was the reason for them to take it out.

Once again...this is what I just heard.

Having a 4D roller coaster at Cedar Point would be awsome!!! But i think before that they need a flying coaster! enough with the sit down ones!

I may later regret these words, but I *highly* doubt you will see a 4D at CP anytime in the near future. As for a flyer, the Coastermania Q&A made it pretty clear that we wont be seeing one of those either.

Is it just me, or does today feel like a bad "Greatest Hits" album on the forums? It seems all the questions that are constantly shut down are coming up again and again....
