Alcoholic Beverages

When I go to Cedar Point I go to ride roller coasters and have a good time, and enjoying a drink or two with your friends is fun too. I don't understand the point of getting wasted, its not enjoyable in my book. Thats what happened to me this year with some of the people I went with, they were so bad they didn't even want to go in the park for very long cause that would have rather sat back at the hotel and drank, they should have stayed at HOME if that was all they were going to do. I was pissed and will never go a trip with them like that, but me and one other person I went with spent the whole time in the park and had a great time, cold weather and short lines in all!

^^^^ I guess I'm an alcoholic then because we take backpacks full of beer to the beach all the time. When you're walking for five hours, it's nice to have a cold one every now and then as a breather. :)

Taking a backpack bar to a destination is one thing, while nomadic drinking is quite another.

I didnt know that creating this thread was going to go this deep into drinking on point.

Oh don't worry, we haven't even touched on Lesbians on Carousels yet.

On topic - wandering around the tip of the peninsula after hours and deciding to carry a few beers with you doesn't sound that bad. You want a beer but don't want to just sit around your room, that's not so bad.

I thought they were just on the Swings??? when did they let them on the carousels???

It was Cedar Downs.

Here are my alcoholic experiences.....

I have carried glass beverages in and around Hotel Breakers / Castaway Bay and walked by several employees, pool guards, and so on with them in hand and no problems.

I have even brought down drinking glasses, fifth of jager, red bulls, and sat it all next to the main pool at Breakers. I have sat in the pools with alcohol by all means.

I have walked up to the gates with alcohol in my hand and finished it right in front of employees and walked in.

I have brought Gatorade bottles with wine in, and you can even pour your beer out of a cup and put it in a non-alcohol cup and bring it in the line.

Is it illegal? I don't know, the rules do say you may only bring unopened water in with you. But the rule isn't enforced.

Now I have never attempted to bring beverages unopened in to the park with me and walk around with them. Like say pop a Corona while walking around.

I hope all of you realize that by admitting that you're putting alcohol in regular beverage containers, you're only asking for "no outside liquids" rule to be imposed. Just as an FYI...

I'm sure that a Cedar Point official will read this thread, and say,

"OMG!!! People are bringing alcohol into the park in gatorade bottles! We have to stop this!"

I'm sure they are aware that this happens.

I'm just saying... It's always seemed to me the park tends to give its guests the benefit of the doubt, until people admit their doing wrong, or it comes to their attention.

DBCP, by living in America and fearing terrorism. I don't think we should have any liquids in any theme park period. These could be bombs or weapons of mass destruction.

Im just kidding....

CP does just want to keep revenue up...don't worry CP I paid $6 for your beer multiple times.

There you go, giving them ideas again... ;)

Indeed. Or perhaps even more restrictive policies than that.

And discussing it on a board frequented by CP employees doesn't help any, either.

That is funny they think people go to their cars to do drugs, get trashed and re-enter theme parks.

Sounds like they have been doing some of these things. I see the theme parks point.

I have to say that when it comes to family parks people should respect that. For one day I can lay off disgusting jokes, bad language, shoving needles in to my eyes, smoking crack, and etc.

I just kind of laugh when I think of riding the Magnum, looking at Hotel Breakers parking lot. Thinking of junkies in the park shooting up.

Smoking pot is one thing, but "serious" junkies. The same applies for people who seriously drink in the vehicle because they need a buzz that is that high but refuse to pay the prices inside the park,

It's nice to have a "little buzz" in the park, but the prices make it so I am there to not get drunk, yet catch a buzz if I want.

Security is screwed either way. You have 13,000 high school cliques in a park at a time or something. Just all the girlfriends...close spaces the line offers. People get irritated in long lines, walking can be irritating.

People can be downright pissed off at theme parks for many reasons.

You just have to be spaced out accordingly. I think CP does it well. I have seen police just drive the parking lots. Not even stopping when its just my girlfriend and I sitting in a air conditioned car doing "whatever". They just drive by I assume looking for people gathering. *** Edited 11/10/2007 7:00:29 AM UTC by factory81***

Hahaha, forgot to mention this. On one of the Saturday nights in Halloweekends I saw a teenage boy and girl pull out a water bottle full of "clear liquid", each take swigs, then chase it was a bottle of Pepsi from the vending machines. 10 minutes later they were falling and laughing all over the place...funny sight. I wonder what it would be like to ride a roller coaster drunk?

It would be quite a ride. Not necessarily fun but could also be scary. Add that to one of the things to do before I die. haha

After reading most of the posts it sounds like people do it but are being responsible about it (most are). *** Edited 11/11/2007 11:07:59 PM UTC by DrunkinMonkey***

"Water will be involved." MrScott 2006

Are you sure it was Alcohol??? Could have been some aqua dots dissolved in there....

ok, who was watching me on the carousel! :-D

I think that anyone who is getting upset about drinking on the boardwalk is just upset that no one invited them to have one with them. just for the record, i loaded the backpack, gave them coffee travel mugs to drink them out of, and told them to have fun and dont do anything stupid :-D

I know from experience that either the law doesn't apply to resorts, or just isn't enforced.

A couple seasons back during Bonus Weekends, a few of us were staying at Breakers. It was a beautiful night, so a few of us decided to grab some of the seats from inside and sit just outside the door with a cooler. I'm referring to the area you'd enter the Bon-Aire section, by Magnum. It was after midnight and we weren't in the way of people coming in and out since most everyone staying there that night had probably already checked in and didn't have to bring luggage in.

Anyway, we saw a CPPD approaching (a real one because he was packing) and I thought for sure he was gonna make us bring the seats in and tell us to go to our rooms but all he said was to please put the seats back when we go in. We had a cooler full of beer and I'm sure he knew we didn't get it there.

That scenario makes me think that the law refers to the parks and not the property. In fact, I highly doubt it's illegal to bring beer to your own hotel room if you're of age.

Telling this story reminded me of the great time we had that night. Some people from New York ended up joining us and they were good people. Good times.

I like to bring my own beverage. Paying 5 bucks a pop for a beer at fridays when i could get a case for 2 beers at wal mart down the street.
