Almost Believable Rumor

This is posted as a stimulus for conversation on the future of the park, and is in no way intended to be a statement of fact on the Park's expansion plans.

Thrillride has an almost believable rumor on future expansion in their 4/17 "Wild Rumors" page. The contributor supposedly talked to Don Miers at a High School function Don was speaking at. According to the post, Don said future expansion includes a wild mouse in 2001 where the Oceana/Aquarium are now. And he also allegedly said they are in talks with Vekoma about a Rock and Roller Coaster type launched coaster for 2002 although he said that it could be moved forward if pressures from competetion warranted it. To me this is one of the more believable rumors to come out lately, although I find it hard to believe that Don Miers would let out such secrets to anyone this early in 2000. Even if this is not true, and it probably isn't, these plans would certainly add value to the park. Anyone who has been on Rock and Roller Coaster knows it blows the Premier Launchers out the water, and a launched, looping indoor coaster would address a possible weak area at the Point. I stress that these are rumors that are strictly that "RUMORS" However, they indicate a direction that I personally feel the Point could be headed in and they include items that I personally feel would be of benefit to the park. What are your feelings?

While these are certainly viable and logical possibilities, why in the world would the park's general manager tell this stuff to school kids who would run out and post it on the Internet? Competitive advantage is soooo important to amusement parks.

Not shooting the messenger, just the message. ;)

If I had a dollar for everytime this rumor surfaced, I'd be able to build the entire boardwalk concept, raze Disaster Transport, reinforce the footers on Magnum to stop it from sinking, and expand out into the parkinglot !!

Your source is Thrillride? ...no comment!
