Antique vs. Cadillac vs. Turnpike

Oh, true, so we can remove a couple more coasters, we only need one.

First trip June 23rd

I personally don't have a preference, and do enjoy all three rides...especially if I am with the younger set. However, I do agree with a previous post that there should be more "theming" in the queue line AND the actual ride itself ala the Grand Prix Raceway (like the Turnpike Cars) at Disney's Tomorrowland at The Magic Kingdom.

Being a parent now I would be crushed to see any of these go..My son absolutley adores these cars and drags dad (me) on these things constantly..Granted I like the rest of the enthusiasts alwys love the grand new rides but now looking through my Lil mans eyes is a different story....

DIL - there are 3 sit-down steel roller-coasters at the park too. Isn't that a little redundant?

LOL! Come on Jug, you should know that you're not comparing apples to apples there! There's a big difference between the three "car rides", and the many steel coasters at CP. Nobody's going to get on a steel coaster at CP, and think "I just rode this exact ride .....". None of the coasters are as similar as all of the "car rides".

Regardless of whether you think the rides are all the same, or all different; whether you think they should all stay, or think they should all go, my point still remains. I don't see CP keeping all three of them for very much longer. If you can show me one other park that has three operating car rides like CP (that's of a comparable size and intent as CP), then I'll concede your point. Otherwise, I hold to my prior point, and say CP won't have three car rides very much longer. You don't have to agree, and that's fine. But your example above does not compare well, or oppose what I've put forth. :)

They compare well if you consider the opinions of those younger folk. Adults may not appreciate having 3 car rides, but a lot of kids sure seem to.

I wouldn't necessarily like to see any of them go, but I wouldn't be opposed to having two removed in order to make one larger improved car ride, complete with some sort of family-oriented theming and what-not.

Cadillac and Antique provide a comfortable if not old fashioned ride around the course.

Turnpike provides that feeling that only Shriners get to experience.

The location of Antique cars is nearly perfect and it fits in quite well with the atmosphere of Frontier Town. And Cadillac is one of the only shaded areas in the front of the park.

Lastly, so CP should have less than 3 because nobody else has 3? What happened to CP being a park that is the best AND for all ages? So what that the car rides aren't the fastest and tallest of what ever version of ride is being put in. A 6 year old doesn't care about that. They care about being able to bounce a car back and forth causing Dad to be thankful that there is still a decade before this is real.

I don't disagree with one being removed at some point (I'm sure one will be), I just don't agree with the logic that its just because there are 3.

"Just because there are three" isn't my only logic. If that was the case, at least one of them likely would have been removed long ago. However, when it comes to future expansion at CP, land need is going to necessitate the removal of at least one, if not two of them. Given the fact that they are basically the same ride, just different variations of it, I see them as an "endangered species" so to speak, at CP. As you said, we both agree on the central principle of what I was saying, just differ slightly in our perceptions of what the rides are, and what they represent. Remember, I too would like to see the Antiques stay if at all possible, and enjoy the Turnpikes as well. Whether there's three, two, or one of them, there will still be that kind of ride to satisfy those who enjoy and make use of them regularly.

Take care and God bless!

I love the Antique Cars the best. They just help give Frontier Town that special feel and it along with the trees look soo great back there. I like the Turnpike Cars because they are sort of different even though my legs are soo long and I can barely ride them anymore. If any were to go I would hope for the Cad Cars to go.

I think they should tear down the park and build a parking lot.

What I said earlier, if they also took out the employee housing (Cedars) that would give the park an enormous about of space. A new B&M would look nice in there.
