August 25 to August 29 Employees

I just read a trip report from someone who visited the park from August 23-26 and he said he noticed a lot of the rides where closed because there wheren't as many employees. He actually said that an employee told him 4 people where doing the job of 15 and tword the end of the trip alot more rides seem to be closed. Does the staff size dwindle a whole bunch bunch by the end of August? My husband and I are I going the last week and that would suck if a whole lot of rides are closed do to being under staffed. Are the workers at Cedar Point mostly students that will have to be at school at the end of August?

You may have read this from me.
To be fair the job the fellow was a bell-hop at Hotel Breakers and once you hit the end of August many students are on their last days of work at the point.

Rides do not close, but more and more food carts and less visited food destinations are closed more frequently. You might see more dippin dots stands not open for example. Or they might not staff the guessing game.

No real ride will ever be closed for lack of employment (Raptor, Blue Streak, whatever you name it). But some kiddie rides might have been closed (and most likely closed in the evening when most of the kids have gone home).

By the end of August.....a lot of the park is still there. But when Halloweekends comes around you can really tell the park is hurting for staff. You definitely notice the lack of food stands being open.

I stayed for a whole week that trip, and it was a fun trip but I did notice a "trickle of things not being open" but these were mainly food stands and maybe caricatures. And Breakers is also slowing down quite a bit at the end of the season so they might not actually even need 15 bell hops anymore.

Cedar Point is probably if I guessed it... 70-80% students or exchange students.

The end of August isn't bad....it's September when things get bad with employment. You will find the park to be jam packed and full of people, and enough staff to service them all. Expect decent sized lines. Cedar Point would never staff things so inappropriately as to where a family could not get cotton candy, face painting, caricatures, and ride all the fun rides that Cedar Point is known for.

Heres a good one maybe...they have a glass blowing shop and a like wood shop..and a blacksmith shop (that is closed 9/10 times to begin with). Those might not be open for example.

Also why does the park feel less "open" in the end of August? Most of the parks shows like All Wheels Extreme, Misadventures of Maverick and Molly, and other shows end on August 17th. There is without a doubt a steady flow of employees leaving the point, but like I said you will never suffer over it. Even though Breakers had only 4 bell hops...my luggage was still brought up very quickly and there were no problems.

One of my best times at the point was that Friday of that trip. The weather was perfect, the rides were all walk-ons practically. But this didn't last long, that Saturday / Sunday the park exploded with capacity and rides were all 1.5 hour long wait for the big ones. A lot of families take off from work after Friday and take the kids out for one last weekend at Cedar Point it seems.

^^ That's cool. I'm not going to Cedar Point for bell hops, food stands, or kiddy rides. It's funny our original plan was to go to Kings Island on Aug. 23 and head straight to the point from there; however Kings Island is closed that day, so we had to make the ultimate sacrifice and extend our trip by one day to go to Kings Island on Aug. 22. I'm scared but still can't wait to try TTD.
