Best location for a relocated Ripcord...

XS NightClub's avatar

Laundry facilities would take up a large section of that shiny new tower, which will most likely have higher rate rooms than average, and would remove high revenue generating square footage.

Not likely to happen to a brand new built to order facility that is justified by the demand for additional rooms.

Some people have to realize that the Hotel/Cabins are huge revenue generation for CP and are the driving force behind its strong financial performance. Lengthening stays and getting guests to stay on-point in the first place is a main priority for the park. On-Point guests generally spend more just by staying there and they generally have more disposable income to drop in-park as well.

Ripcord is not going anywhere that may potentially reduce room inventories.

Google Maps is old (still has Space Spiral!),

If you click the 3-line icon in the address search area, under Earth, click "3D on." That will turn 3D off, and you actually get a more recent aerial image, with Valravn just starting to go vertical.

I like the idea of putting RipCord at the sports park. Yes the main deal there will be soccer tournaments. But there is a lot of down time at those tournaments. If you play 2-3 games all weekend that leaves a lot of time for my miniature golf, RipCord, and whatever else they may put in that area.

It's called a 'hamburger icon.' I learned that last week and find that amusing.

The laundry for the hotel linens is located behind Breakers Express. It has been there since shortly after Breakers Express opened. They also do the laundry for Employee Housing there.

I worked for linen services at the park in 2005, which is located behind wardrobe. We handled washing the hotel linens from Lighthouse, Sandcastle and Breakers. We did not do Breakers Express or Castaway Bay's. We did do some tablecloths and bar cloths for the TGI Friday's at CB. But this was 11 years ago and things may have changed since then.

Thank you! I was wondering why the aerials were so old. In the new aerial, it appears that the two buildings in the top left of the water tower RipCord site have been demolished for a parking lot, so if anything, it makes the site even better since the nearby parking lot would not be cut off (which was a concern of mine about the site judging by the old aerial). Woo hoo! Here's the new aerial version.

Nice job bootymix. I think that would be a cool place to put Ripcord, as long as they don't remove those bathrooms. Matterhorn would be a seemingly easy relocation, and shouldn't be a problem. The one thing I really want for Ripcord, wherever it goes is an awesome new light package, and possibly paint job.

Well folks here's the tally so far. (Sorry Jeff, I didn't use the Disney tallys) Will the park see this as a somewhat accurate representation of our wishes for the future of Ripcord? That remains to be seen but hopefully the park will listen to some of its guests.

1. Relocation to Sports Force Park for 2017.....25%

2. Gone for good at the SCRAPYARD...............24%

3. Area between Ocean Motion and Pink's........14%

4. The lagoon area (dino's alive/over water,etc. including STR site...............11%

5. Current Point Pavilion area............................10%

6. Between Gemini and Slingshot.........................7%

7. Current Matterhorn area..................................5%

8. The CP BEACH................................................4%

Thanks for your suggestions everyone, now let's wait to hear from the park for the future site!

Thank you for putting in the 'so far' in your first sentence. To be honest, I feel that everyone is sharing thoughts and brainstorming, and saying 'I like this idea, I don't like that'. Without a concrete 'I would vote for x location' tally, I don't think what you have done is accurate. Speaking for myself, I have said I like certain ideas to multiple places where Ripcord could go. Just because O say I like it, doesn't mean that would be what I would 'vote' for in the end. I think the best way to see what people want is to actually take some kind of vote. I'm somewhat new to the forums, so I don't know if votes ever happen, and if so how they work, but I do think to get an accurate representation of what us Pointbuzzers want, we need something more concrete than just some "stats" you have gathered from people brainstorming.

Thanks CPfan, good work. You're representation is just as 'accurate' as a 'vote for' would be, as you would have people voting multiple times for their idea in an official poll.

Being done on as an aggregate of proposed ideas
I believe this sampling shows a general consensus of what is a good idea and not out on a far fetched limb.

My guess is near Slingshot. My vote is for the scrap yard.

A thought about the Point Pavilion location...

Putting RipCord there and redesigning that space might involve relocating whatever garbage facility is presently in that area. That would make rides on the Blue Streak on a hot summer night that much more pleasant.....!

(Sunday night the area between Blue Streak and the Pavilion was positively REEKING!)

Gahhh, that was one of my ideas. I made a photoshop of Ripcord in the green-space between the pavilion and the Jack Aldrich theater the other day and apparently it didn't post. The site was being buggy at that time so that's probably why. I guess it's a good thing I waited, because I used the most recent google earth image of CP which was just uploaded yesterday or the day before. It seems to fit perfectly, however there may be minor changes needed to the pavilion or theater. The pavilion needs a huge overall anyways, (Harmony Hall type thing maybe?). That project could be part of the relocation of Ripcord if this is the future location. Either way, the pavilions DO need work.

Here is a better use of the area in my opinion though

What about the restroom back there, CoasterGuy? *
I noticed the strong trash odor the last time I rode Blue Streak a couple of weeks ago. Not a good image for CP.

*Nevermind, saw it at second glance.

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but the likely hood of another Huss Jump 2 being built is nil. It's a maintenance nightmare and doesn't even seem to run at full speed anymore.

This is a perfect opportunity to finally get rid of the small sized Skycoaster and go extreme. Anywhere in the park, but either Millennium Island or over the lake would be ideal.

EDIT: I always believed that the RipCord should have been given a nice paint job/sound effects/lighting.

I don't think I've ever seen this type sky coaster painted.

Kings Island's Xtreme Skyflyer is painted, although plain gray.
