Best way to experience cedar point

I'm planning a trip with my friend for late may (maybe the weekend of the 29th). we're driving in from chicago. i think i can get a 1 day ticket and one night stay at hotel breakers express for $197....we were thinking of maybe driving in that thursday night, checking in late at a cheap motel in the area, and going to the breakers express to get 1 hour early entry and spend the whole day at the park....

it seems like a pretty good deal, since tickets would be about $100 for 2 adults. I'm about to pull the trigger on it, but if anyone has any advice to give about getting the most for your money I would really appreciate any anecdotes you may have. Also somewhat curious about getting a dining plan.

I am not quite sure if you meant to stay at cheap hotel on Thursday night and then check in at Breakers express on Friday or not... However, if you are driving in on Thursday and planning on spending Friday at Cedar Point you should stay at Breakers Express Thursday night. No matter how late you check in they will print your tickets at check in so that you will have them ready for early entry first thing Friday morning. From Breakers Express you are a very short drive from the gate.

I meant to stay at a cheap hotel Thursday night, then go to Breakers Express at 8 AM friday morning, stay there friday night, maybe go to the park saturday too, and drive back that night....

Basically, I wanted to avoid driving in Thursday night, and driving back Friday night, and to do it for the best deal with maybe two days of park tickets.

Gotcha. I am not sure how much less some of the non CP hotels are in the area around Sandusky so I am no sure how much you'd save by doing that. If you did stay someplace else Thursday night make sure you get to Breakers Express early Friday AM - while they might not have a room ready for you at that time they could at least print your tickets and you could be off to CP for early entry. If you can afford it though it might be easier to try and stay there both Thursday and Friday but of course that is up to you.

If you are planning on spending the entire day at CP then the single day meal deal for $30 would be well worth it in my opinion. If you get a combo meal they run about 15 a piece - with the all day meal deal you get a meal every 90 minutes for $30. You would easily be ahead if you were planning on getting something in the morning, at lunch, and dinner time. They have a lot of places and options of what is included in that plan.

For park tickets a 2 day from Breakers express would be a great choice as resort guests get tickets for some of the lowest, if not the lowest prices available.
