Big Screen Removal [John Hildebrandt tweets]

I'm with Clevelandkid about removing those '70's style planters/benches. I think a tree in one of them was dead anyhow. That area accumulates water after a rain and Wild Cat operators have to go out and sweep the pooling water away. I'm on board with the pavers since it would create a permeable surface. And those tall parking lot lights? More traditional street lighting would work nicely with the train station.

A elegant larger covered carousel would work beautifully in that space opening from the historic marina walkway entrance. Dodgem would work better over by games or the dreamed of beach boardwalk area. Then there would be a real heart to the park where all the midways meet. From the boardwalk entrance, the main midway, the marina entrance and Top Thrill Dragster midway even spills out nicely through that swooping curve of Corkscrew with all those flower beds. A new or existing carousel beautifully housed in that spot would be perfection I think. Perfect for Celebration Plaza.

So much potential now that big screen is gone. Thanks for the video's Rotunda Chillin. I did enjoy that huge space with plenty of room to sit down and the happy crowd vibe at the end of the night. But it won't be missed. Especially during the daytime.

Is it just me or are the tall parking lot lights also gone now? I didn't see them in either of the pics with the screen taken down. No screen, no tall lights...what a vast improvement to the space already!

Yes the lamp posts are gone. I noticed that too.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

If you think that screen was an eyesore blocking the view of Millennium Force, you should have seen what it did to the Giant Wheel!

I have to wonder if Planning and Design was kicking and screaming all the time that screen was being put up.

Yes, I particularly hated it when Giant Wheel was over there. As much as I was initially bummed to have it moved, at least on the beach you could see it. Now if they'd just ditch the warehouse next to it.
