You may find yourself happier at www.everyonethinkslikemebuzz.com. We prefer to have disagreements, and not cry when people don't agree with us.

CCMR is a classic, and wasn't it the first "Mine Train" coaster? I know Matterhorn was the first tubular steel coaster, but this one wasn't too far behind.

How dare you say we shouldn't cry? I disagree wholeheartedly.

I remember riding CCMR about 15 times per trip when I was too little for everything else. Now I get my kicks taking new people on it and acting like I'm scared to death in line, telling them it goes under the lake and it's pitch black and anything else I can come up with. Once I had a buddy freak out after hearing all that and seeing the lap bar, thinking he was going to fly out or something.

While we have gone on in other posts about what CP needs to fix, one thing they have been getting better at, IMO, is in making sure they have rides for everyone. Tearing down CCMR would be a step in the wrong direction.

Among the other reasons mentioned, it is one of the best "themed" coasters at CP. You couldn't ask for a better Frontier fit than a runaway mine train.

While CCMR isn't my favorite ride, I always like to ride it a couple of times a year. Obviously I'm not the only one since 779,128 people rode it last year. I couldn't justify tearing down a ride that is still getting that amount of ridership.

Jason

Why do they call it common sense, when it's so infrequently used?

The Mine Ride is one of the best rides at CP. Why? Because most everyone in the family can ride it, even people who would never set foot on a more aggressive coaster......Frontier Town is a family friendly part of the Point, to make it perfect I think they need another flume ride and a frontier themed dark ride.

I totally agree. The next major attraction to be planned for CP should be a flume and dark ride combination constructed in FT.

But come on the the ride is pointless.

I doubt someone who's just ridden CCMR as their first coaster would see it as quite an accomplishment and not pointless.

Hey, I've been to cedar point a lot and I still love to ride it!

Now i know that CCMR is a classic and a one of a kind. CCMR is a good ride if you cant handle Maverick, Magnum or any of the other fast intense rides. I have to admit when i was young i rode it and to this day i still try to ride it atleast once a visit. But that peice of land could be used alot better. Lets not tear it down lets move it somewhere else in the park. Yes that land dose suit it well yet i think it could be better. Move it over to where the unused queen lines for Meanstreak. Dig and trench it fill with watter and there you go.

1 - Why does it need to be moved?
2 - How would you get the necessary equipment into the "Meanstreak" infield?
3 - What would you do with the people who use the "Meanstreak" queues during the busy summer?
4 - What would you do with the people who use the CCMR queues during the summer?
5 - You were always the first one out in school Spelling Bees weren't you?

What's a queen line?

It would be better off if CCMR was left where it is now.

And people think Magnum is hard to find, Mean Streak's infield is by far the worst location for a ride in the entire park. Mean Streak already has lower ridership because of it's location being so far back and you want to hide a ride inside it. Hmmm??

The senior citizens need something to do. I think they could do something with the ride, like say redo the station make it bigger, or (I think people will disagree) replace the old leg cruncher trains.

^I don't like those trains either. The only place I find myself comfortable is the front row of each car (assuming they're the same trains as Gold Rusher's; they look the same in pictures), and I'm only 5'9".

Newer trains themed to look like the old ones would be cool.

2008: CP&LE Railroad/Monster/Witches' Wheel

I'm 6'1" and don't find the Mine Ride cars too uncomfortable. Arrow loopers are far, far worse.

There is only one reason in my opinion to remove this ride. CCMR is a good ol fun ride that appeals to a wide group of riders.

Next people will be telling me that WildCat should be removed.

smoke 'em if you got 'em

^That's weird, I've never had a problem with Arrow loopers (ie Double Loop at GL and SFMM's Viper). Go figure :)

Both the Corkscrew (CP) and the Vortex (KI) give me problems. The horsecollar pushes down on my shoulders and pins me into the seat. I can't remember when I last went on either of them.

Six Flags over Texas opened the first Arrow mine train in 1966. Six Flags over Georgia's opened in 1967. CCMR opened in 1969. It wasn't the first, but very close.

Thanks for the correction Scott. I knew it was close, but couldn't remember if it was the first.

2. You want Meanstreak gone? Tear it down!

3. Tear meanstreak down.

4. No problem meanstreak is gone so all the people that hate it can quit crying.

5. YES I WAS! Thank you

1 - not really. CCMR fits a nice niche for riders not yet ready to conquer the bigger rides.
2 - No. Leave it.
3 - See #2.
4 - And those of us that enjoy it, would start. You wouldn't gain any ground.
5 - Well, the first step to fixing a problem is admitting there is one.
