Cedar Point Removing Good Times Theatre

Only one section of the theater now remains.

This is both sad and exciting. Hopefully Cedar Point makes good use of the land, as it's not often they have an opprotunity for expansion like this.

There's no doubt in my mind that the park has something good planned for that space.

Yes, perhaps they will FINALLY "drop into the future". I sure hope someone asks that during the winter tour. I remember hearing it every year at the Coastermania Q&A (before they stopped it).

If it's just another coaster, I'll be disappointed for sure. Like I said, having this much land to start fresh with is a rare opprotunity for Cedar Point and it would seem like a wasted opprotunity if just another coaster was plopped down.

What would you have them do with that land then?

As opposed to...

as opposed to:

Planning something bad for the space

Not planning anything and simply drawing an idea from a hat (or some other random method)

Never doing anything with the space

Actually, it's just going to be green space with newly planted trees. I look forward to bringing a picnic basket and laying a blanket down in that area and enjoy a nice quiet Sunday afternoon. Probably the new area for the so called Coaster Campout site this year.

I read (on twitter I think) that a fan of both CP and Midnight Syndicate got in touch with CP and asked them what they were doing with the Syndicate entrance sign. I believe that got in touch with the GM and others and I believe CP gave him the sign. The funny thing is my daughter and I had talked about that sign weeks before and I told her it had to already been taken. Never occured to me to call up.

Does anyone know from either watching the web cams or being on point whether the seats inside the good time theatre were torn down with it? I imagine they were so old and such a wreck that they were destroyed. Shame if they were though I would have loved to get a hold of one. I've got seats from old Cleveland Browns stadium and some other venues and when you think of the tens of thousands of people that sat in them and had great times I would have loved to get a hold of one.

Since when can you take a picnic basket into the park?

That area would be nice with green grass, trees and lots of benches in the shade.

The area would also make an awesome premium parking lot. With the entrance right there and in the middle of the park no less.

Oh yea, I'm all for that! A new premium parking area instead of a boring new roller coaster! Also since that is close to the center of the park instead of walking 4.9 miles while spending a day at CP you would only have to walk 4.7 miles... To add a bonus your wallet will also be much lighter after paying that premium parking fee which would in turn of course make walking that 4.7 instead of 4.9 miles much easier.

I would like another wood coaster. I'm pretty sure I won't get one but that's what I would put there if I were the supreme ruler of the universe.

I'd put a Dive Coaster in that spot and RMC that beautiful but terrible coaster in the back.

*sigh* Back in the day, you could. The picnic pavilions at the front of the park were inside the park gates. Up until the late 80s (I think), you could take your picnic basket into the park.

This is off topic, but the lights are on Blue Streak tonight. Cedar Point must have wanted to light up Blue Streak in this winter wonderland we have going on tonight. Also kylepark, your comment from earlier today was funny!

Bluestreak's lights have been on most of the winter.

I certinaly won't complain if a coaster ends up in this spot (or any spot, for that matter), but I do hope the park takes this opportunity to fix-up the Luminosity area.

Between racing to install the show in the eleventh hour and then removing WildCat at the last possible second, I feel like the area is left feeling rather ad hoc and jumbled. (Having a very busy throughway cut the show area in half, effectively, seems the worst problem to me.)

Having this plot of land open up immediately adjacent to Luminosity seems like a great oppportunity to create more cohesion in this area and provide a better experience for show-goers and non-audience members alike.

I'm not sure that it's fair to label that position in that way. I'm also of the opinion that if CF replaces GT and Cedars with a new coaster, that would not represent anything approaching the best use of the opened up area. Plopping down another coaster, no matter how amazing, seems far more Kinzelish than Ouimetish, at least in my opinion.
