I wish we had a Swenson's. Fortunately though, no chain restaurants here at ALL - in the entire country. w00t!! That's what trips to Ohio are for. :)

Btw, what could Wal-Mart possibly have as a "must have item" that isn't available somewhere else?

Usually the situation that drives me there is when I need a very specific item -- specific brand, specific dimensions, whatever. I find I have very peculiar shopping needs. One day I'll be working on some project, and I'll think to myself, "What this calls for is a working harmonium, but a tiny one small enough to fit into a hamster enclosure." Don't ask. Then, after checking a number of other retail establishments, including discovering that Harmoniums R Us has gone out of business, I'll find that such a miniature harmonium is not to be had, at any price. That's when I reluctantly, and with no small sense of guilt, head down to my local Mal-Wart, only to learn that no device of that dimensions exists in the known universe.

And then sometimes I buy a Coke on the way out...

Yay for the countdown! ive been itching to go since about a week after close.

Wal-Mart is beneficial when its late and you're bored. You and some friends, head in, screw around. Leave before they make you =].

And you're all forgetting... Happy Kwanzaa.

Back on the topic of the "holiday" design on the CP site.

Although the background is nice... the "snow design" on the flash banner is quite...er....overdone. Some of those snowdrifts appear to be 100 ft or higher. It just looks like someone got a little happy with the eraser tool in MS Paint.

Yaayyy! I'm Jewish =) Happy Holidays Everyone!

This is kind of off topic, but I was watching the news last night at 11 pm and they had this whole 10 minute interval about Santa's weight. The hook before the commercial said "Does Santa need to drop the pounds? Find out after the break." So, of course, it led me in, and, just as I suspected, society is thinking that Santa is "promoting" obesity. Sure, he is a role model for people of all ages to look up to, but he's supposed to be a jolly fat man! He's a childhood icon; not supposed to be a body builder! Health experts recommend that Santa should shed some pounds and that kids should leave more healthier snacks like carrots and celery. In case you haven't realized this already (sorry kids) Santa isn't real.

I absolutely adore the sarcasm in this article. http://kateharding.net/2007/12/06/open-for-discussion-santas-too-fat/

I like the Christmas layout of CedarPoint.com.

Getting to the topic of Wal*Mart. It seems like everyone is bashing Wal*Mart for importing huge amounts of goods from other countries. Well, look at the products at Target. I was at one last weekend and picked up a pack of candy canes. I looked at the lable and guess what it said? Yep. "Made in China" I put them back on the shelf and shook my head. I bought a DVD (that was duplicated in the USA) and I noticed the bag the cashier put it in was made where? China! So all you Wal*Mart bashers, look at what the other stores are doing. They are 'selling our souls' just like the big, bad Wal*Mart.

Not quite.

The other stores (for the most part) do not open in an area with plan to get every other general retailer and grocery and then once competition is gone, bring those prices right back up.

I actually had the pleasure of meeting the webmaster (Jeff I think his name is) for CP on closing day on Dragsters platform. It was cool to see who's responsible for one of my favorite websites (next to pointbuzz of course;)).

-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut

Yeah, it's not about where Wal-Mart gets their goods. It's about their business practices and their horrible effects on small town USA.

Always nice to see the holiday themed site, but its even better to see the countdown clock.
