Do you have to be a Coaster Club member for before and after hours ERT at Coastermania if you have a Platinum Pass?

You must be a registered member of a Cedar Point-approved roller coaster club to attend CoasterMania!

That makes it sound like you have to be a Club Member to even get in to the park that weekend and from what I've been told that's not true? I'm confused because I read that same thing before but then was told that you had to belong to a club for the ERT and that anyone could attend Coastermania. I'm a member of Coasterbuzz and will have a Platinum Pass so my husband and I can get in regardless, but we may have another couple going with us that will most likely only have Platinum Passes and I don't want them to not be able to enjoy the ERT with us. This is my first year going to Coastermania so I'm pretty clueless as to how it all works...

Each coaster club member may bring one non-member with them. So if you and your husband both have coasterbuzz cards the other couple should be fine.

If you want to be able to go to anything that is not open to the general public then you will need to be a club member of a club listed on the page that Walt posted. The park is open to the general public during the weekend, just not during the wee hours of the morning or late late at night. If you were just talking about going to the normal 9am starting ERT for Platinium passes then you don't have to be a club member.

You can bring one guest per club card, as stated above by Steven. So if you have friends come and you have already have the extra guest on your membership they will not be able to get in for the CoasterMania ERT's. My best soloution would be to have your friends pick up another CoasterBuzz membership card.

I hope this helps some.

I also need to mention that every CoasterMania I have been to(which is only 2), nobody checked me for a coasterclub card. So who knows, would still play it safe though.

I wouldn't count on that though. I have had years where they did ask. Including last year.

I was wondering if you guys could help me out with this/ I'm a 2010 Platinum Pass holder, and I really want to go to CoasterMainia, but I'm not in a coaster club. I really have no desire to be in one either, so maybe I can just find a club that is super cheap?

Also, if you attend CoasterMainia, do you have to go to all the events? I know my brothers and my mom would probably not want to see the Walter Bolliger, so are they allowed to skip that?

Getting a CoasterBuzz membership is the cheapest membership. I believe it's $25 for a year. And no you don't have to attend every event.

Jason, I think it is just random for who they ask then because when I went last year they didn't even bother to check me at all.

Ride Warrior- Even though you don't need to attend every event I think the Walter Bolliger session will be neat and I think the convention center is air-conditioned, so a nice break for an hour or so.

CoasterBuzz is $25 and it isn't the cheapest. Many are still at $20, including: Great Ohio Coaster Club, Coaster Zombies, Western New York Coaster Club, Dark Ride and Funhouse Enthusiasts, Florida Coaster Club and Mid Atlantic Coaster Club.

Though, $5 isn't a big deal. What I suggest is seeing which club suits you best. See who offers events your most interested in attending and join that club. If you want to go to Fall Affair at Holiday World, that takes you down to CoasterBuzz or Great Ohio Coaster Club. Any of these clubs will get you into most, if not all, park sponsored events.

CoasterBuzz will have Boo Buzz ;) so the value is there!

Last year you had to be wearing the Coastermania neck thing to get in the line. Tony as well as staff kept checking.
