Coasters' Choice Awards

I am in accord on the subject of Restaurant Marrakesh, it was really, really good. I havent been to Busch Garden's Williamsburg in a few years, but I do remember that they had pretty good italian food at La Cucina, a stand near Appolo's Chariot in the Festa Italia section.

I also am dumbfounded by Cedar Point getting best food. There is no way that is possible. Granted, I eat there everytime I go, its not exactly the tastiest of food, with the exception of Midway Market (the fact that you can get all you can eat kinda makes up for the fact that the food is slightly bland and at other times just plain not good). Cedar Point has gone the distance in every other department besides food, and they really need to change that. But hey, everyone cant be perfect, so whatcha gonna do...

That's the problem with Restaurant Marrakesh; who cares what you're eating with the belly dancer smiling at you? You could accidently eat your napkin and think it's the best thing you've ever eaten.

I think my favorite at Epcot is Resaurant Akershus in Norway.

Without upstops, airtime would have a whole new meaning!

Sticking with Epcot, the best country by far for food is Japan. 2 good restaurants and a sushi bar. And the food is really good. Granted I havent eaten at Japan in a few years, I still have fond memories of them cooking at the table and just the overall atmosphere being darn good.

One good thing Cedar Point has goin for them: Cheese on a Stick. Not the healthiest thing, by far, but ya have to spoil yerself with a greasy, fattening, colon cloggingly delicious slab of deep fried cheese...

You guys are really picky about your food! Sushi and Lamb Couscous at an amusement park? I guess it sounds good but I'm mostly happy with burgers, fries, hot dogs, ice cream and elephant ears. That's mostly what I get, except for Long Island Iced Teas at Soak City. :)

Burgers and fries and whatnot are amusement park staples, but when you are in a park like Epcot, are you gonna opt for burgers and fries, or are you gonna splurge a little and go with the sushi, couscous and other gourmet dishes that they serve?

Granted, Cedar Point isn't Epcot, but I think thats a good thing. I can just imagine Top Thrill Dragster as a "learning" and "discovery" experience as opposed to being a 420 foot tall ass whooping ride...

I ate at Johnny Rocket's a few times, and the food was ok. Only problems were the food was cold and when my group told the waitor we needed 8 different checks. He said ok, and came back a half hour later with one check. He then said we couldn't split checks after they had been printed and claimed we had said nothing about seperate checks.

I agree that more diverse food choices can be very beneficial to the park. The average diet for Americans today is not what it was 10 years ago. There have been an increase in the amount of Low-Carb, vegetarian, and vegan diets. The donut/coffee shop is something in the right step.

Pete, that's true. But, most of the burgers at CP are, well, not good. Many are near-charcoal, they are so well done. The burgers in Camp Snoopy aren't bad, and the Coasters Classic is okay, too, but mostly because the toppings hide the bad burger beneath. Every once in a while I'll get a JR burger that hasn't been cooked dry, but it's rare.

(No pun intended.)

On the bright side: the boysenberry syrup that is often found in the Breakwater breakfast buffet is Good Eats.

For meals I usually head over to Friday's....the food is better and it gets away from the crowds....I only snack while I'm in the park, I'll grab fries here, or nachos, a drink etc....but other than that, their food isn't worth it money wise to eat a whole meal.....besides, Friday's has A/C, Beer and cooked to order burgers...

You can't get a good burger at CP unless you go to Friday's. They suck in the worst way at every location. McDonald's burgers are better, and that ain't saying much.

I have to disagree with you on the burgers Jeff. Personally, I like the meat patties that they use in the broiling machines at the quick serve locations. They are not gourmet burgers by any stretch of the imagination, but they make a good, basic fast food burger. I like how they cook them also, well done!

I don't really have many complaints about the fast food at CP. It's about the same quality as you get at McDonald's or Burger King, basic fast food that gives you a grease fix.

And, I love McD's Big Macs!

I agree with Pete about the burgers. From my experience, most people that dislike the generic burgers at C.P. do not like charbroiled burgers in general and since these generic burgers are EXTREMELY charbroiled many people do not like them.

I really like food that has been heavily flame roasted, so they taste fine to me. However, my friends refer to them as "Dirt Burgers".

I much prefer a burger that most would consider under cooked, medium-rare. Fast Food can't get away with this but a good sit-down can. I don't mind McDonalds because I expect to get an "almost-meat" burger...and as I said before I hardly ever get a burger at the CP. Partially due to taste, but also because I'm not going to pay Friday's prices for McDonalds quality. A lot of people don't realize that with your parking pass you can actually leave the peninsula and go to that McD's just off the causeway to eat and then return without paying another 8 bucks. We've done that before too because its hella cheap.

Either way, CP excels at carny food (fries, Cotton Candy, Icee's) but doesn't do that well with real food.

John

I'm a fan of really charred burgers as well, so I enjoyed the burgers from Coasters and the Skyride, although I wasn't terribly impressed with the JR burger I had...mostly because I expected more for the price.

My money generally goes to Midway Market though. When you've got two or three picky eaters with you, it's the best option because everyone can get what they want. Besides, the desserts (mixed berry pie especially) are a great way to end the meail.

I guess i'm in the minority here but I think the Smokehouse burger at Johnny Rocket's is pretty good. I've only been there twice but everyone seemed to enjoy their food, and the shakes were good, although I know what % fat milk they put in those and that kind of makes me sick now.. :)

A couple years back, there was a food stand that served deli-style sandwiches located on the main midway, next to the place that will take your photo and put it on a magazine cover. Last year I noticed that it was converted into a large ice cream facility that seemed to only serve Dippin' Dots.

Now, I love Dippin' Dots as much as the next guy, but it was cool to be able to get a quick, simple turkey sandwich.

Its close for me. I love TGIF burgers , but also have a taste for a JR one to. I dont know about McDonalds YUCK. Well compared to them.

Just wanted to let you know that you can still get that turkey sandwich you crave at Trails End. They serve BBQ Chicken and Turkey Legs as well as the made to order subs that used to be found at Surrey. Trails End is located near the exit to Millenium Force on the Frontier Trail across from Red Garter Saloon. I hope you enjoy your turkey sandwich!!!!

Speaking of the Red Garter Saloon, I hope they still have the pulled pork sandwiches, smothered in BBQ sauce. Those were excellent!

It's not how it's cooked, it's how long. Champagne and martinis should be very dry. Burgers should not.
