CP Theming....

I think that one year instead of putting in a new ride or fixing the kids area, they should just fix all of the above mentioned problems. It would make the park look a lot nicer.

I feel like there are much better things for the park to fix than some simple lighting that doesn't really look all that bad.

Power Tower's lighting problems stick out like a sore thumb. Millennium Force's not so much, except that you can barely see them from the Breakers parking lot.

I agree with Blue Streak. The park pays special attention to detail when it comes to landscaping and it looks great! Everything is cut and pruned to perfection. There is no reason that the lighting and theming can't be the same way.

Whenever I see Power Tower lit it seems to look like this: http://www.gallery.pointpixels.com/details.php?image_id=12195

Is there anything wrong with the way that looks?

I'm fine with the theming at CP. It seems to look even better at night with

and MF lift hill.

^^Exactly, I'm not sure how PT can stick out like a sore thumb.

The only way you'd know something is wrong there is by knowing those lights aren't supposed to be stuck at pink/purple and white all the time.

This is topic should be named "CP theming... OVER CRITICAL".

There were plenty of nights I remember only half of the top arches being lit up.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Whoever says power tower's lights are very different is right.....

In 2000, it used to have the whole tower lit up from top to bottom. The lights used to COMPLETELY change colors from one to the next. ex: red, then blue, then green, and so on. Now, I see that the one arch is stuck on white for some reason, and only half of the rest of the top changes from purple to some other color. The middle has no lights, barely, and the bottom seems to TRY to match with the top. You may see different, but that's what I see at night.

I've never been almost afraid to make a post in a thread before until I read this one. Yikes. Anyway, on topic. I definitely agree that Power Tower used to look incredible when the whole tower was lit up and changed lighting. I really liked when it shined a bright white. That was neat. I wish they would come up with a new way to light Magnum. I don't really like the chasing lights... but that's just me.

I might just be sentimental from being a kid in Breakers in 89 watching the chasing lights from our window and trying to believe that I'd just ridden it but I'm a fan. I agree with everyone about the lighting, there's nothing like a well lit amusement park at night (KW's pretty classic at night), but as far as theming rides I prefer nothing if it's a choice between nothing and something cheesy or poorly done.

Anybody care to comment on the lack of theming upkeep in Disaster Transport. Why does the park not care about that ride anymore?

^They do care.

If they cared then they would not have such a joke sitting in the front of the park.

The park care immensely on its image and the way the park looks.

Disaster Transport is a bad a ride and it looks even worse, but a lot of people still enjoy it. I strongly feel that with the large variety of family style coasters popping up over the past few years, DT is going to be replaced.

The park may car about it's image but as you said yourself "Disaster Transport is a bad ride and it looks even worse". So who is allowing this to happen? It is the folks on top in the big seats who decide where the money is spent. Do they ever go in that ride? Doubt it. When was the last time you saw Mr. Falfas or Mr. Kinzel go in that building. I'll tell you when that was..... It was when the ride was built and when the ride was covered. Two times!!! Since then they have washed their hands of their own disaster.

Shame on them. They would rather put in a Chicken dinner restaurant than take care of one of their coasters.

^It's a fun family coaster. Plus, no one ever complains about the theming besides the big CP fans.

^unless you've interviewed each and every person that walks into the park, I highly doubt you know that for sure.

It's not that Cedar Point doesn't care about rides like DT, but why invest more money into a ride that from the very beginning was a lemon?

Cedar Point has jumped on other areas of potential, and have worked extremely hard to bring life to areas of the park that once were dead.(Frontier Trail, Oceana Midway, Games, etc.)

Cedar Point is an amusement park, not a theme park. For what themes they do have, I'd say they did pretty well. Maverick looks phenomenal, and TTD still looks pretty darn good.

I'm sure there's a plan for DT in the future, with the closing of the stadium, and the addition of MaXair, WT, and the games renovation, I'm sure CP has something great that will one day blow that "lemon" out of the water, but again, it doesn't mean they don't care.

Normally I would agree with you. But, Disaster Transport is a complete and utter embarrassment to the park. I don't know how anyone in their right mind would even say the ride looked good. Sure, it's enjoyable to some, but the appearance of the ride (interior alone even) clearly illustrates the park doesn't care about everything.

Something frustrating from college; we actually paid for the 3D glasses on DT the first year they started that debacle. Didn't see anything special on the ride, then walked out to find a pile of glasses we could've picked up right next to the exit.

Same here, we purchased the glasses, didn't see a darn thing with them and then they flew off during the ride and hit the guy in the last seat. He was not happy! I told him that it was not my fault, maybe he should take up his beef with the designer of the glasses. I told one of the ride kids about it happening and he said it happens all the time. He said the track is littered with them. It's probably a good thing that the car can just run them over and not create a dangerous situation. Now that I think about it, it does surprise me that Cedar Point would allow you to take something on a ride that will fly off during the ride................can you say liability?
