CP/CF 2008 Season Dates?

I've been checking the nearby CF park web sites and no one has released a 2008 calendar. The past few years CP has had the "days till park opens" ticker going on the main web page, but it is not there yet. What gives? I'm making spring vacation plans and reservations down south and can't find a schedule for our southern sister parks either. Anyone know what is up with that?

Their operating dates don't change much year to year.

The only thing that usually changes is the what week in May they open. It's usually the second though.

To add to this, I'm hoping they give up on the 10am-7pm days in May.

Why those are the best days and make sense. Nobody is ever in the park in early May when we are open 10am-7pm

I am! Early May is my favorite time to go. No lines, walk on almost anything you want. It might be a mite cold at times, but on the other hand you don't have to contend to with 90 degree boilers either.

Usually I make 70% of my visits to the Point before mid-June, just to beat the summer crowds.

7pm closing didn't make sense, because the park was still quite full at the time of closing. Basically there was more money to be made.

It was clear that they saw this in 2007 since the times were changed to 8pm the second week of the season.

It is also my favorite time to go. I tend to go by myself a lot and the light crowds are great.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they went back to the 8 o'clock closings in May; in fact, I think it's to be expected. There are, however, a lot of other unknowns regarding this 2008's operating schedule...

Automate the rides and have the park open 24/7. That's what I vote for. :)

For those who are dying to know, if CP sticks with having opening day on the second weekend in May, it is 162 days until opening day.

Put a cover over the park too. Then you can run 24/7/365.

Whatever you say...

Somewhere, there's a thread where I analyzed when Opening Day has fallen for the last 20 years or so, and that's not always true. I looked for the thread but couldn't find it at the moment.

^I don't know...I was basing that solely on last year's opening date. I don't really have the time or the desire to analyze 20 years of info.

Nick

I guess that means Cedar Point is getting a $21 million coaster for 2008 because that's what they did last year. :)

When I say "analyze" I mean, look at the Opening Dates for the last 20 years and when they fell. There was generally a pattern of it falling on the first weekend of May for 4-5 years, then the 2nd weekend in May for 2-3 years, then the first weekend in May again. And the only reason I took the time to do that to begin with was to prove a point that there wasn't necessarily 1 week chopped off the operating season (as everyone was arguing), that 2007 merely fell in the trend.

^^Very funny, Tim. But, in my own defense, I did say "if" they stick with the 2nd weekend.

Dont you mean 365 and 1/4 days? Im just messin. we just learned that today in science class.

You just learned that? Oh yeah, you're in middle school, right? 'Cuz that's about when I learned that, if not earlier.

Just saying.

So then the park would be open 24/7/365 for three years, then 24/7/366, then rinse, dry, and repeat.

^thats right so next year (2008) it would be 366 days! Yes we just learned that. I just transfered into a public school from a private where they didnt teach much so Im learnig alot. Maybe Ill learn enough English/spelling where you guys wont pick on me anymore. :)

I know that King's Dominion has already put their calendar up. Opening Day is March 22. Dorney Park's front office said May 3.
