Crazy things you hear while waiting in line...

"Crazy things you see while waiting in line", or in this case walking towards the line at Mine Ride. It wasn't particularly crowded, so the gathering of people drew my attention. They were near the fence by Mine Ride entrance where the bubble gum machines dispense "fish food". These folks were watching 2 CP workers refilling the machines. I happened to see the bag they were scooping food from. It was dog food. I guess Carp will eat anything.

I'm in line for Windseeker righ now and this kid probably 11 just said that he heard it was 700 feet up. The little girl probably 7 said that she heard one of the seats fell off from the top once.

Children start the best rumors.

(On Skyhawk)

Woman (talking to me) did you know the cable snapped on this and everyone on it died?

Man: Yeah, it also killed 4 bystanders

Me: *facepalms* "no, the cable snapped and hit a person, but the ride didn't break off, it would have to break those steel poles. The only death here was with Raptor a few weeks ago."

Woman: "what about the swing that fell off Windseeker"

Man: Or the seat that fell off Power Tower

Woman: Or when Magnum sunk into the ground

Man: Or when Wicked Twister fell off the edge

Sometimes, it's futile to try to correct stupid.

This is on Skyhawk, so its not technically in line, but still.

Woman: (in her mid 40s, talking to me) "Did you know a cable snapped on this and the car fell and everyone on it died?"

Man: (probably her husband or something) "and it crushed 5 people watching the ride"

Me: "The cable did snap, but it didn't fall. For that to happen, those red poles would have to break. And the only death was on Raptor a few weeks ago"

Woman: "What about that time when the swing fell off WindSeeker?"

Man: "Or when the seat fell off Power tower"

Woman: "Or when Magnum sunk into the ground" (my favorite one)

Man: "Or when Dragster's train fell into the lake"

Woman: "Or when Wicked Twister fell off the side"

Man: "Or when the cable cut the girl's leg off power tower and she bled out"

Woman: "Or when the person fell out of Blue Streak"

Me: *facepalms*

Not in line, but during dragster construction a guy with a hundred coaster patches on his jacket told me the catwalks were because it was a layered coaster.

Saturday afternoon in line at Blue Streak, young couple maybe 15 years old.

Boy, trying to impress his date with facts: "Did you know this is the oldest roller coaster in the world? yep, this is the oldest operating coaster in the world."

Girl, obviously impressed: "Oh wow"

Man; What about when the Dodgem car flipped over?

Woman: What about when the Scrambler seat came off and flew into the Pagoda Gift Shop?

Man: What about when Ocean Motion swung all the way upside down and everyone fell out?

Woman: What about when Gatekeeper didn't make the turn in time and hit the keyhole?

Man:What about that one time when dragster didn't make it over the hill and killed everyone on-board when it fell backwards?

Sunday, outside Eerie Estate, a younger guy pointing to it and telling the girl he was with "in there is the roller coaster that is in a building".

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

A few years ago in line for maXair, a guy was telling his young son "yeah, a few years ago, a guy flew off this ride and hit Disaster Transport, that's one way to go..."

Were they on the midway? Or actually in line for it? If it was the latter, I wonder how disappointed they both were when they went inside.

They were on the midway between Eerie Estate and Auntie Annie's. They were heading in the direction of Wind Seeker so they could very well have gotten in line to be disappointed at the lack of a roller coaster.

I remember hearing some guy say that someone died on TTD! Just because TTD is one of the tallest and fastest coasters in the world doesn't mean someone died on it. That was years ago. Just recently, I heard somebody say that someone died ON Raptor. No one died on Raptor. Some jumped in a restricted area and got HIT by the coaster. Some people just don't do their research before they speak.

It took me 10 years to finally create a Pointbuzz account..........

Me and Thabto(Brian) were talking to this one guy by the Valravn media center. He was saying how excited he was about the ride with another friend of mine too. Here's the funny part. Guy - "With the addition of Valravn, they should just tear down Top Thrill Dragster." My thought was, why tear down a popular ride like Top Thrill Dragster? I wanted to tell him how silly that sounded, but between my one friend and this guy, I couldn't get a word in. Lol

Last Sunday, 6:30pm or so, up on platform of Gemini with my son waiting for front seats. There was a group of 3 to our left, the 4th person didn't want to ride and was waiting down by the entrance\exit on the midway. The loud one of the group saw him down there and started yelling "George!, George!". The others of their group joined in: "George!, George!". George, who looked to be a man of approx. 60ish, was oblivious.

More people on the platform joined the chorus yelling "George!, George!" and waving vigorously.

No acknowledgement from George.

Finally, the Ride Operator in the booth picks up her mic. and says "George!, George!". George looks over, sees numerous people waving, spots his friends, shrugs his shoulders and turns away.

Of course, while going up the lift hill, people were still yelling for George.
