What do you guys think about setting up an official Pointbuzz Discord channel? I thought it might be a fun idea to have a chatroom so we could talk to each other, both about Point stuff or anything else we're interested in.
GET ON THE POINT, MAGGOTS!
We're never going to maintain a chat room, I can assure you of that.
It's good to know that despite forums being on the downswing, this site still brings in enough revenue to avoid going the route most forums have. I suppose that's the benefit of being the only show in town for Cedar Point.
I'd be on board with a pointbuzz discord server any day.
Steel Vengeance rides: 81
Favorite coaster: Steel Vengeance Favorite flat: Skyhawk(2 solo)
Top 5: 1. Steel Vengeance. 2. Magnum XL200. 3. Maverick 4. Millennium Force. 5. Top Thrill Dragster.
Alterra Corporation: Get what you deserve!
I'd 100% be on board with a Pointbuzz Discord server.
RMC streak or bust!
I'm on discord everyday so most certainly I'd be on board. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough but I've always wanted to find a CP discord server.
Sacrificing playing video games to ride roller coasters.

Crazy to think how our little corner of the internet is slowly becoming obsolete as more and more app based and social media channels create a platform for people to discuss their interests and hobbies. I remember in the early 2000's forums like these were popping. I don't even know what Discord is.
If y'all want to really have a trip down memory lane visit the Wayback Machine. This is a really cool site that allows you to look at old websites. I typed in some of my favorite websites from around 1999-2005 (mostly theme park sites, including this site, Virtual Midway, and Six Flags Ohio: A Refreshing Look) it certainly was crazy to relive those early 2000 years when Ohio was a Coaster Enthusiasts dream....
Refreshinglook.com (I think that was the address) was my introduction to the world of coaster fandom and park dedicated fan sites and discussion forums. Boy do I miss those days and crazy to think it's been almost 20 years since the 1999 into 2000 announcement of GL turning into SFO.
WolfBobs, go on to the wayback macine and you can see old captures of the site and others, including this one. It's a great trip down memory lane.
Whatever happened to Chip Wood?
The suggestion that forums are somehow becoming obsolete isn't even remotely true. In fact, if anything, they're seeing a resurgence given some of the recent backlash against Facebook and other closed-wall social media offerings.
PointBuzz has 4% more users in the last month compared to a year ago. Heck, if you compare to the same year in 2010, there are 63% more users.
People have been predicting the decline of this site (and CoasterBuzz) for 20 years now.
Great to hear, Jeff. I know this site has meant a lot to me over the years and I want to continue to see it thrive. I'm sure there's more users, but it seems like there were more ACTIVE users years ago... and that was with three or four other sites that essentially offered the same thing (The Point Online, etc.) All of those sites have since closed and have been replaced with more social media based outlets (CP Food Blog, CP Rundown, Cedar Point Memories, etc.)
I know I used to come to the site for breaking news, but I usually find out industry related "breaking news" in my social media channels first and then come here to discuss. There's something to be said, however, about your format and its ability to survive and thrive for twenty years! Keep it up!
I heard they were tearing down this site to make way for a bigger, better, faster site.

I would love a pointbuzz Discord, honestly. Having an employees-only channel would be great too.
