During Winter?

Does CP leave the train on the track in the station during the winter, or do they just take the seats off and leave the carriages? just wondering.;)
They take the whole train off the track, take it apart, and put it back together. Every train goes through this every winter.

If I remember correctly, the whole train was in the parking lot (employee lot) next to Blue Streak. That was in November.
I think you are correct. I think I remember that being there.

Thanks:)
Last off-season they put the trains in storage by Blue Streak.

Sorry for bringing this topic back, but I'm guessing they take the train off by dismantling the wheels and the carriege off. Are the wheels and carriage put back together with the rest of the train or are they kept seperate? Wicked Twister being a shuttle coaster seems harder to take the trains off than other coasters with transfer tracks or am I wrong?

That's what I thought when I started this topic, that the train was hard to remove because of WT being a shuttle.

That's funny, I didn't know WT got another train :)

"Distance runners are experts at pain, discomfort, and fear."

Cedar Point builds custom cribbing for all of their coaster cars. Most likely, they have a wooden box that they can load onto a forklift and position under a car of the train. Hoist it up until tight, then disconnect the car from the rest of the train. Remove the upper half of one of the wheel assemblies, slide the train about six inches towards the other side, lower the forklift a foot and a half, take the car away, bring in the next crib, repeat until the train is removed. Reinstallation is the reverse of removal.

That's an educated guess, mind you. :)

Hey it works something like that, a little dirrent though but just remember that they just cant fit a fork lift through the exit gate, I know that you said it was jsut a guess, But you are right on how they do it though.

Can't fit it through the exit gate, but the fence panels on the midway side along the launch track are removable. :)

Sure and how do you think that they are able to get the train down the three 1/2 drop. Dont get me wrong, it is possible, i am not sure how they do it, i have just seen them in the "carriges" when they were stored. They usually start taking trains off the next day after the last day. So like, we would be there, but this last season they were taking raptor off, and i did not hang around to wait to watch twister, I kinda wish that i would have.

i think it would be hard to get any coaster off its tracks because they are designed to stay on and not come off. but i think it would diffently be harder to get WT train off.
Well it really is not all that hard to get a train off the track. Sometimes when they would be changing wheels and stuff you would see that. ALl that holds it on is the underwheel. So if you take them off then the train will come right off, now on twister if you look it is the top wheel, take that off, and the train will drop right down.

Actually, and correct me if I'm wrong, but there is a section of track about 10 feet from the front of the station where the rails the train rides on can be removed. This is similar to the sections of track at the base of each hill on Millennium Force where the train can be removed in the case of a rollback. You can see one of these in the last straightaway before the final turn as you walk up the ramp to the station.

I was also under the impression that they put all the trains away for the winter. I also see the big wheel stuff laying behind the Magum. I could be wrong though.

Favorite Coaster: Wicked Twister

Some of the trains take shelter under the picnic pavillions. I asked about that to a ride host last season, they said Millennium Force trains keep shelter under there along with Mantis.

I always thought that maybe they rolled the train forward where the sand is and then use a crane? Since there is nothing to grab it there such as brakes and such.
