Empty space near Bluestreak? Oceania?

Does anyone ever wonder what cedar point is gonna do with the empty building area by the bluestreak. i know that pirate ride used to be there but its long gone. that area of the park has gotten so dead. it just seems fishy that cedar point still hasn't done something with it. Also, whats gonna happen with Oceania? Closed but no plans? CP is doing so many things i think they forgot.

Yep, they just forgot all about it. ;)

Actually, I see CP completely remodeling the front of the park - perhaps in 5-10 years down the road. The layout leaves a little to be desired and they could easily free up some considerable room with a massive redesign of the entire area.

Ever see the dive show, or are you trolling again?

Whenever I'm over by Blue Streak I always notice how much empty space there is in that area, I'm sure there is enough room for one and possibly two flat rides. These would most likely be rides similar to the Calypso which is already there.

I'd like to see a great old ride like the Whip in the center of that area.

It would be a great spot for the Wave Swinger if they need to move it for whatever they are building in Frontier Town.

There needs to something added there.

I would love an old dark ride, like a return of Pirate Ride or the old Phantom Theater at PKI to go in that building. The Ship that used to be in front of the building should of stayed even after they closed it. It was fun to hang out and shoot water off the bridge.

I thought they put an R/C boat game in the old pool. Wait, what happened to the old R/C boat games? Was there one near Iron Dragon as well? *** Edited 5/18/2006 1:59:55 PM UTC by Coastern3rd***

Yeah, they sure have. I do dearly miss the Pirate Ride. As a kid, I must have gone on that thing 4 or 5 times a day - it never seemed to get old. And the ship in front of it was one of the best things about that ride.

Unfortunately, I think the Pirate Ride was a victim of the "no theming" budget issues. LOL!!

I loved that ride too. It's interesting to see how different parts of the park change over the years. I've gone there every year since I can remember and the park has changed a LOT!! Its cool to see though.

The Pirate Ride building is used as a warehouse.

And as the Park Services office. I don't see it going anytime soon.

Pirate Ride still exists. It's called Halloweekend Theming.... ;)

Anyways, an office can always be relocated. Honestly, I can see a consolidation of departments into new office buildings in two locations. A partial demolition and renovation to the Planning and Design building. Also I see a construction of a Building complex to replace the offices behind Scrambler. (Yes I know whose office that is. Hey he deserves a new office from time to time.) While maintaining semi clearance and vehicle access to the park at this location. Maybe a bridged 3 story building, or 2, 4 story buildings that would require the relocation of the scrambler, this building could house some of the smaller warehouses.

This would open up a lot of space. Maybe the employee cafeteria would be relocated into the new office complex and open up a cheap cafeteria setting in the front of the park for guests. Especially if the Frontier Inn gets the ax next season.

With these offices moved they could move the main midway games to create a park border across from DT to DD and using the space caught between main midway and Space Spiral. 2 - 3 flat rides could fit in there with some other establishments too. With park services moved and their warehouse, another 2 - 3 flatrides could be added here too.

This is only a small part of my consolidation theories....

I BELIEVE RIGHT NOW FROM SPECIALS IVE SEEN ON TV, THEY ARE USED AS OFFICES RIGHT NOW.

I BELIVE THERE IS NO REASON TO SCREAM.

I believe he may have been on magnum while he was typing, so there was a reason to scream.

I'm waiting for the day when CF moves most of the Fair offices off point around CB and Express. I can understand having the offices on point, but if they keep them on point I would like to see the offices condensed into a smaller 2-3 story building.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

If they took out their offices and picnic shelters by Oceana, there would be a lot of room to build a new coaster. Also, they could build a coaster by the Demon Drop and the picnic shelters at the front of the park.

Last time I was at the Point I looked long and hard at the old Pirate Ride building and imagined a really great, traditional Laff in the Dark ride there. It would be the perfect location for such a thing and would do great business. People would eat it up.

As for Oceana, I've been waiting for C.P. to turn that whole midway into a boardwalk-style area. It's a good start with the addition of maXair, Wicked Twister, Giant Wheel, and the updated games building, but the concept could be extended all the way to the other end with additional flat rides and a maybe a small coaster. (I think of Timberline Twister) Keep Ocean Motion, lose part of Snoopy and the Oceana Stadium. Make a walkway on the beach side so guests can walk along the lake without leaving the park. Concessions and even rides could be built out over the sand.

I also imagine a coaster wrapping the front of the park, using the space along side Blue Streak, over the front gate, and and the space where Demon Drop is (was) as well as the area behind it.

Anyhow, that's how I'd use some of the empty space laying around up there!

I'm the oldest one here. CP emp '73-'74

I thought I heard Jeff say somewhere that he single handly started the boardwalk rumor.

Maybe he started it, but in an in-park servey last year, I was asked "would you be interested in a boardwalk style area featuring a variety of restaurants and shops?"
