Excited for Cedar Point, but the weather looks terrible

I'm flying up from Florida today (Wed, May 18) for what will possibly be my only visit ever to Cedar Point. I'll be going to the park Thursday and Friday, including early entry on both days. I'm outrageously excited for this trip.

The weather looks like it will be cloudy and wet, but not heavy rains. From what I've read, that makes for very short lines.

The only thing I am worried about is all the rides being open. This early in the season, with poor weather, will all of the rides be open? Has anyone been there so far this week? Any rides down?

I can see Top Thrill being shut down if it is wet, but I'm hoping others are still going? (especially MF, MaxAir and Magnum)

Thanks! I'm bouncing off the walls waiting for this.

Have fun!! Hope that the weather is good enough for you to get all of the rides that you want. :)

I wouldn't worry about rain tomorrow or Friday. Not that I'd guarantee 100% dry weather, but it looks like a non-issue.

We're going to be there today and tomorrow. What forecast are you looking at? Ours says 66 and 68...with just a "couple showers" around both days (accuweather). You'll be fine.

I will take this over a crowded park and 80 and humid any day!

TTD is the most temperamental weather-wise, but with the thin crowds you will get your rides.

I think you'll be OK on weather. Watch out for thousands of savage high school kids. It's math and science week. Early entry should be terrific, and last year after about 6PM the lines started to get shorter during math and science week once all the buses and flourescent t-shirts depart.

I hope you have a great trip and get to ride everything you want.

Thanks for the assurances. I'm about to head to the airport now. I can't wait. I think I'm most stoked for MaXair. That looks like a lot of fun. I love roller coasters, but I'm afraid of heights, so riding some of the tallest in the world is going to be a lot of fun.

Kevin, if you can, reply back tonight and let me know how today was. I'd love to hear. I'll be staying at Lighthouse Point tonight!

On Sunday MaXair was down, but I think it was something mechanical that was wrong. If I remember right someone said it was waiting on a part, and it could be down for awhile.

Yeah I would say Maxair, and maybe Thunder Canyon and Snake River Falls are the biggest question marks. If you are going to be there for 2 days, you should have a shot at most everything else at some point.

The weather has cooperated so far today. Park is pretty dead with the exception of some high school kids but the longest wait all day was 20 minutes for ttd and that was only because they were not filling up the trains.

Opening day maXair was missing parts on the top of the tower and I heard that it maybe down till June waiting for parts from Huss (difficult task). The weather should be fine for you, I hope you have a good time.

Don't think Thunder Canyon and Snake River Falls ever open up the first few weeks of the Season, unless the weather is 80 degrees and sunny...

Top Thrill Dragster will close if anything falls from the sky, plus wind. Tuesday it was closed all day. They tested it now and then, but the weather kept coming back.

If it is raining, coasters will stay open, but with 1 train.

I'm in a similar situation, eagerly anticipating my first trip to Cedar Point in 9 years next Tuesday and Wednesday. Current forecast is calling for possible thunderstorms next week but I know it's always changing (as I've seen many times over the last few days). Hope the weather takes a turn for the better but I'm prepared to delay my trip a week if I have to.

Anyway, hope the weather cooperates and you have a great time at the park.

So today was a mixed bag, but by no means a terrible day at the park. Temps were in the low 60's...very comfortable...and the rain stayed away until about 5. Down to a sprinkle by 6:45 ish, and by then we felt like the only people in the park.

There were not that many math/science kids here today for whatever reason.

Up in the Best Western suites with a very excited 3 year old ready to head back early tomorrow.

By the way, Ocean Motion was cycling tonight as we left the park...hope it's open tomorrow!

Nevermind on Ocean Motion. It was a no-go on Thursday as well. The theming is completely done, and there was just a welder and a mechanic doing some work on the underside of the boat throughout the day.
