Favotire Part on the Magnum XL 200?

Perception is a big thing. I think everyone is a little spoiled by the newer coasters by Intamin and B&M. I agree that it's hard to tell if it is the track or the trains. Like Matt said, the trains take a lot of abuse!

It's just sad that being a Magnum fan and hearing the GP say it beat the crap out of them. I won't go that far. But I just think it needs a little more TLC. Looks great now, though!

Last weekend while waiting to get into the park, a guy and his son were complaining about the roughness. I asked where he sat. He couldn't remember. So I advised him to sit in either the front or second seat of any car. Sitting over the wheels is most likely got him. I saw him later that day when he got on. He was very surprised in the difference. I then suggested in riding in the front of back car. I explained how Magnum is a rare coaster where the back is smoother than the front. He thanked me for the advice.

To me, Magnum is tolerable unless a wheel needs changed, or the whole axle! ;)

I've ridden Magnum since opening day in 1989 and I don't really notice much difference in the ride quality. The pretzel, with the replacement track, became smoother and faster than it was in 1989. Probably because the replacement track has a thicker backbone so it flexes less.

I don't understand this obsession with smoothness. I wouldn't want Magnum, or Gemini, to be any smoother than it is. A roller coaster should be somewhat turbulent, it adds to the excitement of the ride. I think Magnum is a more exciting ride than MF because there is more action on the course.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

heh, no kidding! Speaking of which, does it appear that they have fixed it yet...or at least made it wiggle less?
