Focus of 2017?

I wondered the same thing. However, if the go karts were inside the park, I think they would be a lot more popular. A lot of people don't understand you have to exit the park to enjoy the attractions in challenge park. Also, a lot of people don't know how to get to challenge park unless you're staying at Breakers.

With this Soak City expansion, I also believe that the gate by Magnum will be redone. It's the last remaining entrance gate that needs updated after this year.

A water coaster like they have at Castaway Bay, but on a larger scale, would be perfect for Soak City.

The Go Karts suck for a few reasons:

• I don't go to amusement parks to drive Go Karts
• The track really isn't anything special
• When you can race 45mph+ Go Karts like these, there is no lower substitution

Not sure where you got that from my post, Jeff. However when you have a course that isn't ADA compliant, it doesn't make sense to have it at all. Maybe they'll build a new one somewhere else. But to make room for a SC expansion, it only makes sense to remove the mini golf course. Not to mention, the numbers for mini golf have declined in recent years. That's all I'm allowed to say.

Not only that, the course looks like it has been deteriorating. I haven't had any motivation to ever play it. I have been on the go-karts though and those were fun.

I'm hoping when they expand Soak City, they add water coasters similar to what Holiday World has done. I've ridden both and LOVE them! Cedar Point needs something like these!

These are the same, tired arguments people have been making for 15 about there not being any room and [your attraction here] has to go. Soak City is not even remotely dense with attractions. Mini-golf courses can be rebuilt.

They need to hire the Old Pro Mini Golf dudes from Ocean City, MD to redo the courses, or just bulldoze the area and put in one big one.

When the one portion of Breakers was demolished last season I thought that may have freed up some land for SC future expansion. And then they went and added more parking to it I think. So...there went that idea of mine. I could see 2017 being a SC year. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing WWK get a new slide tower before SC. Maybe a smaller mat racer with only 4-6 lanes?

I do see 2017 swinging back to family attractions, waterpark falls into that category, maybe that and a dark ride? Eventually I wouldn't mind seeing a third kiddie coaster, or family coaster along the lines of Firechaser Express.

In the meantime, I'm gonna sit here and worry about my 2016 plans and Valravn more so then 2017.

I also wouldn't mind and think that it would be much due addition to WWK. It's been a decade since they've actually built any new attractions. But, on the flip side they're probably not raking in huge profits every year and building a new slide wouldn't bring in that much additional revenue to really justify the investment.

Plans have been in place to add new attractions at WWK, but things get cut when evaluated at the corporate level. Funds then go to other CF properties that make a greater return on investments.

I just realized that in all my years of visiting the park, I have not once set foot (or had even an inkling of a desire to) in Challenge Park. Not that this observation means anything at all, but I have always wondered what the interest is when you are surrounded by so many things to ride and do and experience that don't charge extra beyond admission. Is it mainly resort guests who get bored? People along for the trip who can't (or don't want to) ride?

To me, going to Challenge Park is a bit like going to a Chinese Buffet and paying extra for some spaghetti that the kitchen can make, but isn't out in the buffet you already paid for. I mean, I get it...some people really, really like spaghetti, but then why did you go to the Chinese Buffet in the first place?

As a frequenter of WWK over the years, a new attraction there would be wonderful, albeit not at all expected. That place simply is what it is.

I've spent much more time at Challenge Park than I ever did at Soak City. Although, 95% of that time was between the Mini Golf and Go Karts. At this point, I think Mini Golf is the only thing left back there that I would participate in. The Go Karts haven't been very good since they split it into two tracks.

Not to digress, but... my mother and I were very entertained one day at Ryan's Steakhouse Buffet by the family at the next table. They were finicky vegetarians who, for some reason, chose the restaurant with "steak" in the name where everything is made in advance.

End of digression.

We usually stay at the cabins on the lake for 5-7 days at a time 3-4 times a season. We end up walking through challenge park dozens of times each stay.

I haven't ridden the go karts ever and I've been going since 2007.

The Skyscraper ride we usually do at least once a night as it's open after the park closes, and the Platinum Pass BOGO ticket makes it a good deal.

Golf maybe a couple times a season.

Ripcord usually once a season or maybe twice if we have new people with us.

With the inclusion of the SlingShot inside the park, I could see them removing/including/Relocating Challenge Park inside the actual park boundaries.

In the past that would've been kind of a bummer for Resort Guests as it is nice to be able enjoy another hour of fun after park closes. As there was not 'anything' to do on point after park closes except make your own entertainment. (And driving late night into Sandusky for some late night fun if you've been drinking already is a bad idea) However, the last couple of years of Hotel Breakers renovations has brought some great late night fun options, and I believe management is seeing the upside of that from a revenue standpoint.

I would really like to see them utilize Bubbles beach bar as a late night after park nightclub option or utilize the Breakers Cafe as a nightclub as it's almost setup like one more than a restaurant anyway. Both are far enough from the hotels to alleviate noise complaints and have much of the infrastructure already in place. Nice summer nights at the Bubbles Beach Bar could be very a Vegas-like fun spot on weekends.

I always thought the Breakers Café should be converted into something like Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville.

Margaritaville like high energy fun would be great.

Adding late night entertainment options for a very sizable captive customer base (how many resort rooms/cabins/RVs are on point- I would guess close to 1000) that clearly have disposable income (the rates start at around $350 for rooms/cabins) seems like a solid business idea.

And judging from the additional options now available and added to Breakers as the season progressed, maybe we might see something from the new vision of the management team.

Here's to hoping Cedar Point will find another way to seperate me and my money, Cheers!

When you say Breakers Café do you mean the Breakwater Café next to Sandcastle Suites?
