Friday or Saturday in September??

So my family is planning on going to Cedar Point in September and we can't figure out if we want to go on the last friday of the month or Saturday. On Friday the park closes early, so dose anyone know if it's possible to hit all the rides in a fewer amount of time?? And not trying to predict the future, but from someone who has been on a Saturday in September, was it very crowded? THANKS :)

Well, it depends on the dates.

1 - After Labor Day, the park is open on Weekends only. 6-12 on Friday, 12-12 on Saturday and 10-8 on Sundays. (For the most part).

2 - Fridays aren't as busy, but also only have a limited ride availability.

3 - Its Halloweekends. The crowds have been getting busier and busier over the last few years. To the point where they do a sizeable chunk of their annual business during these weekends.

On Fridays in September they do not open all of the rides. You can find the list of rides that are open on the Cedar Point website.

I went on a Friday last year during halloweekends and had more than enough time to hit every ride that they had open. The crowds were very light and the weather was even nice that evening - not too cold and not rainy.

When I have been on Saturdays during Halloweekends (when it wasn't rainy) it has been at least as crowded as a mid-summer Saturday - possibly more crowded even. On those days though I went more for the atmosphere and the scare zones (skipped the haunted houses that had lines - they were too long). I didn't even try to get on any major coasters and most flats even had lines that took several cycles to get thru.

Are all the "big rides" open? I don't see on CP's website what isn't running.

So if even I went during the week of August like the 27th, the hours are from 10-8pm do you know if all there rides are opened?? And is that still enugh time to do everything??

Before Labor Day, all the rides are open every day from openish to close.

After Labor Day is when things change.

The crowds on Saturday's during Halloweekends are horrendous. Seriously, the largest crowds I've ever seen. Have fun with a 2+ hour wait for Any major coaster, 30-45 for iron dragon, 30 min for wildcat...

I figure I'm going to piggyback onto this topic as I have a similar situation. My wife and I were planning on traveling to Cedar Point this Saturday (the 19th). But, if what you say is true, then I'm not sure I want to be there on a day where the crowds will be as bad as summer crowds.

So my question is...would Sunday be a better day to attend the park? I know the hours are shorter, but are the crowds less as well?

Sunday is good for short lines, all rides are open. However, if you want to go throught Fright Zone, Terror Island, etc they will not be open except for the Sunday before Columbus Day. The haunted houses are open on Sundays as are the shows. So it depends what you're looking to do. If it's just rides go Sunday. If it's the all the Halloweekend attractions go Saturday. Friday is good for both, though the number of rides is limited. Most of the premier rides are open on Friday.

Just come on Saturday! If the crowds are big, you can come watch football with me and Matt at Famous Daves :)

Thank you all for the responses. I think we will go Sunday as we both are more interested in rides then in anything else.

I apologize in advance for this double post...but I just need to give a big THANK YOU again to Clevelankid for suggesting going on a Sunday.

Millennium Force and Top Thrill had lines that were only about 15-20 minutes long each. Maverick's was about 45 minutes and everything else was almost a walk-on.

I've never had such a great day at the park....the sheer amount of rides we got on in an eight-hour period was incredible.

You are most welcome. I'm glad you had a great day.

You should go on Saturday because this day is the most crowded there.
