Gay Day 2006

Has the discussion begun about the unofficial, annual Gay Day yet? A radio station in Toledo (92.5 WVKS FM) who formerly hosted the now defunct "The Breakfast Club" in the mornings from 5:30am-10:00am used to have a segment right around Father's Day where they would have callers call in with their opinions about the day, etc and personally thought it gave it great exposure.

Being a gay man from the area, and having worked at Cedar Point ('94-'97)...I feel that this event has lessened in size and exposure over the past 10 years. I do not have an opinion either way, however I would like to know what people's thoughts/comments are on the reasoning behind this? Anyone? Bueller?

Disclaimer: Cedar Fair LP, Inc. has absolutely NO affiliation with the event

Ryan, I for one would like to see something like that started up again!! Maybe start it up in late June?

I am against a homosexual day unless they also have a heterosexual day. They should not discriminate against people who prefer the opposite sex. That would make me feel like Cedar Point prefers homosexuals to heterosexuals, and I would stop attending the park if that were the case. *** Edited 4/13/2006 5:56:49 PM UTC by BigDog***

Ryan & Braden,

I am not sure that this would be the most appropriate forum to discuss a "Gay Day" at Cedar Point. I could be wrong but I am sure that this is going to bring up discussions that we could have in a different environment.

Just my opinion.

Diane

If It wasn't for fun, Life would be all work. Now who wants that????

Guys - Don't worry, I'm sure your conversation will be fine. Every now and then a jacka** like BigDog will pop up, but the vast majority of people here are adults.

Don't let the few little kids' comments distract you.

But seriously...

...this discussion happens EVERY year. And it always gets out of hand. Why start it again?

Straight people and gay people will come to Cedar Point when they want.

I am going to have to agree with djDaemon, you can't let some immature teenager affect conversations. Otherwise the only thing we ever would talk about is the "500 footer we are getting next year".

Back on topic, braden, it traditionally has taken place on Father's Day each year, I am not sure why they pick that day, but I have no qualms with them having a "Gay Day" at the park.

I'm a teenager and I have no problem with gay people. But, as far as I know, it usually takes place around or on Father's day as stated above.

Please share with me what has you to believe I am the name which you say I am. By the way, should the park discriminate who may enter based on sexual preference, they are opening themselves up to a multimillion dollar lawsuit.

The park does not. As was stated in the first post, there is no affiliation between the park and what is organized as a gay day. It just happens to be held at Cedar Point, you can still get in whether you are gay or not.
