Gemini

I was just thinking about Gemini. I've always loved how when the two trains pass each other, the riders can give each other high-fives. I wonder what would happen if say, for instance, a rider from each train held on to a rope or something so that one would "pull" the other. I'm pretty sure whatever was linking the two would break because of the immense amount of momentum, but I'm just curious. Any thoughts?

A rope would be a loose article. Loose articles are not permitted on Gemini. ;)

I've always wondered that myself! Great question! :P

No, you can't do this. The trains weigh a few tons, and since one train goes down the hill before the other, you'd have all that weight pulling on you. The rope would simply jerk out of your hand with a considerable friction burn.

If you were to tie them to the trains it might work, but you might have an issue when they go through the helix at the end.

101 on Magnum and counting...

I didn't even think about the helix. That would be crazy.

I did have one guy try to steal my watch once. Not exactly the same thing as what's being discussed, but still an interesting note.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I lovelovelove Gemini. Not only is the racing very competitive and fun, but the layout is enjoyable and IMO, it is the smoothest coaster ever. :)
Also, I've always wondered what would happen myself. I think if they were tied together, say...with a few cables they would just hold each other on the turns until they stalled.

Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~

^haha really? I hope he was at least on the Red Train so that if he DID manage to get it, he could run down the exit pretty fast. Otherwise that might have been the dumbest attempt at robbery ever.

I hate and will never ride Gemini again. Last time we rode it; it was rougher than Mean Streak.

Let's Get Weird.

I believe the roughness you are talking about is caused by not having any upstop wheels. IMO it feels like it derails when it hits the first turnaround after the first drop. It also seems to rock back & forth when being pulled up the lift hill. *** Edited 7/25/2007 11:04:44 PM UTC by delphi94***

Gemini is excellent. I usually only ride in the very back of either train. Best way to go.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I've had a few rough rides, and though I hate rough coasters, I still love this one. You can get back on and have a different ride. Has anybody else notcied any differences between the blue and red trains? I always feel I have a rougher ride on the blue, maybe it's coincidence, I don't know. The last time I rode the blue side in the third seat of front car (could this be the ejector seat like on Magnum?) it was really rough the helix threw my nieces head into my arms and we were really geting pushed around.

I have found that riding in the 3rd seat of any car yields a rougher ride... In the first 2 seats of the car I've had nothing but smooth rides. It's a great relaxing ride!

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

My rides on the red side seem to be a lot more smooth. Either side it is a great coaster to me. Still gives me some great airtime no matter where I sit.

Top Coasters:

1. Maverick 2. Millennium Force 3. Top Thrill Dragster 4. Sheikra 5. Magnum

ride on ride warriors, ride on

I'm sorry for bringing back a 3rd old topic but I was looking for this topic so I wouldn't have to post a new topic. I had a question. Where are some good spots to take pictures of Gemini? I want to get some good pictures of it with my camera this summer.

They can run two trains at the same time?!? When did this start?

Sarcasm mode off.
