"Go To" People at Work

LuvRaptor brought up in another thread that she was the "go to" person at work when it came to her co-workers and Cedar Point issues. Whether it is "how much does it cost nowadays?" or "Is Dragster running yet" or "What's the new ride this year?", I'm curious to know how many others of us are the "Go-To" people at their various work locations? How many of us USED to defend CP to our death? And how many of us are TIRED of being the go-to person?

I am definitely the "go to" person for anyone who knows me...be it at work, church, family, friends, et al. I enjoy sharing what I know, and I will still defend the park in many instances, but in the last two years have gotten a lot more frustrated with some of the decisions that CP (and CF) have been making.

I even enjoy helping people when I'm walking around the park.

Guilty as charged.

I do it a lot at work. I work at a bank and a customer was angry with the ATM charge she was charged at CP. One of my co-workers said, "let me get the CedarPointchic for you". I then told that customer about the "check cashing option" at Park Operations. It made her a lot happier to know that someone could help her and understand her dilema.

We get calls all the time at the bank for discounted CP tickets and usually I get the call forwarded to me to answer that question (because we don't sell the tickets).

I don't mind being a "contact" person. At my workplace, I don't think there is anyone else who can comfortably answer the questions I can, within reason. I am proud to know the information I do know and am happy to help when I can! I also keep brochures with me just in case anyone needs one.

Cedar Point, Americas rip- rockin', high flyin', sky defyin', record breakin' roller coast

Me too. I'm also a member of ClubFun and supply our employees with the discount sheets that are available to ClubFun members. Great job with this program, CP!

I'm the go-to person at school. I don't mind being it, it just gets on my nerves sometimes when people think they know something and they are so adament about it, even though they are wrong.

Example: Person-"Iron Dragon was put in for 1990."

Me-"No, it was 1987."

Person-"No, I'm positive. It was 1990."

Me-"Check pointbuzz.com's timeline. 1987."

Person-"I'm positive, but I'll check just to humor you."

Next day

Person-"Okay, it was 1987. But isn't Hotel Breakers the biggest hotel in Ohio?"

And the cycle continues.

I love lamp.

Sounds likd you are dealing with an idiot, Fordman.

I'm pretty much the "go to" person at my school. I did this persuasive report on why B&M is the overall superior roller coaster manufacturer of present day two years ago.

Since I knew so much about the topic already, my research went way beyond that of other kids and their projects in my class. That english teacher now mentions my report and how I'm this roller coaster encyclopedia kid.

I'm the type of crazy that IM's all of his friends going "Oh No! They're taking out WWL!" seconds after I receive the news. About two of them actually care.

Coaster Fanatic Since 2003

I am that at work. I actually love it! A main aisleway runs right next to my machines. So, people are always stopping, asking me qeustions. I even have the HalloWeekends poster ad hanging up for people to see when they go by. They will read it and say, "I didn't know they were still open".

scttmn31,

ClubFun is a program that CP has that provides discount coupons to companies. I'm not sure if there is info about it on the CP website or not. Try searching on "ClubFun" or "Club Fun" on the CP website. All the info I have about it is at work and I'm not at work right now.

Let's put it this way..

My name plate at work actually says "Raptor Jo"
and under it is says "Cedar Point SME"
(Subject Matter Expert)

People at work know me as Raptor Jo.

Everyone in the office knows my work email addy if they have any ??s they know to email me. In the Spring I do a "CP spiel" to all 2nd shift employees promoting the park (and GL now too) and explaining the discount tiks we sell.

When I give our department new hirers their "pep talk" it always ends up as a Q & A about CP or my baby Raptor.

Anyone who has seen my truck, my wardrobe, my tattoos ALL can assume I would be able to answer a CP question quite comfortably :)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

Jo... you are just weird ;)

... in a good way of course!

I hear the term "weird" a lot! I say, "I'm not weird, I'm gifted!"

The "weird" person was someone there last month. Remember him Jo? ;)
