Halloweekends 2013

Universal had a Poe themed house (called Nevermore) when I went to HHN in 2011. It was one of the most disappointing houses there, as it severely lacked any of the well done theming most of the other houses had. I also remember it was set up in one of those temporary inflatable buildings they put in one of the backlots, so I guess there is only so much you can do with that. Given the right artistic touch, I think Knott's can potentially do very good things with the Poe theme.

I do find it interesting at how much teasing some of the other parks do for their haunts, compared to CP, which pretty much just turns on their Halloweekends website a couple weeks prior to the event. Obviously CP is a completely different beast, and seemingly doesn't need to market as much.

I only thought it was the week before last year:)

Anyway, I can see CF getting away with that one. If Knott's halloweekends is anything like CP, I think it will be well decorated and if they are good they can get it to follow the poem.

Was able to visit Knotts a few years ago. The haunts for most part are well themed. The rest of the park is fairly lax. Their public hangings (staged) are fairly well done as well. Hence the contravisory they get for doing them.

Also of interest, Knotts charges a seperate admission for the haunt from their regular admission. They actually close down and it's everyone out and re enter for the haunt. I just confirmed this the other day as I plan on being out in Cali and making a return visit in October.

I still love how they get to go through the midways to their events & mess with people along the way. Worked PT on Friday nights when they would come through for BOTB or CE and people that hated clowns, oh the fun at watching the little man on the bike scare the crap out of them...Oh my twisted humor

Temporary, yes, inflatable, no. It's ok though, I forgive you. :)

But I agree, it was quite disappointing compared to the others. Busch Gardens did something similar that same year but I don't know how it turned out. It's definitely an interesting theme go with and attempt to bring to life.

^Details released a few weeks before? One can only wish; last year we had to wait until the Monday before the first weekend before we were treated to a marginally functional set of pages.

From the outside those buildings looked like a small version of a golf dome. Although I guess it would be hard to keep something like that pressurized with the constant stream of people going in and out.

They have one of these covering the soccer field at Cleveland State. There are always people going in an out of it. There is a revolving door that keeps the pressure in.

Haven't seen this mentioned yet, but last night at the park, I noticed that the exterior to the asylum thing was redone with a lighter color of wood. Could this be our new haunted house this year?

Do you have any pictures?

I'd be surprised if this is true, since the Asylum's only been around a few years. I'd rather see a new haunt replace Club Blood.

I'm sorry to say I did not, but I almost did. I'm sure somebody going in the next week will get some.

Didn't the park get in some hot water for the Asylum theme? I could see them replacing it just to distance themselves from that controversy.

I agree that Club Blood is the haunt most in need of an update.... maybe we'll get two new next year?

You know what I would think would be pretty cool, Is that they re Theme the Dinosaurs Alive Exhibit, and do a SLENDER theme to it, Have multiple people dressed as the Slender man from the Game Slender: The arrival. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDYQnhLxjJU

^^They only got in hot water with the name. That's why they changed it from "Dr. D. Mented's Asylum for the criminally insane" to the (not as good) Eternity Infirmary.

Im hoping for a return, or at least something similar to Happy Jack's. I thought Happy Jack's was the most well put together haunt at the park.

I remember riding Sky Ride last year and seeing the Jack in the box creature that would sit outside of Happy Jack's in that giant white tent that would sit by the employee parking lot where a lot of the HalloWeekends stuff would be stored. But I don't remember seeing the prop used in any of the haunts last year or around the park as decor.

I also noticed that this last weekend. Not sure if it will really mean any changes, I figured the building just needed some upkeep. I'll try to get a photo this weekend if no one else does first.

Anxious to see what HalloWeekends 2013 has in store for us! Very cool that it begins on Friday the 13th! :)

Well, we have no idea what it will be. But, the GOCC/ACE event on September 28th is currently scheduled to include:
"5:30 p.m. - Behind-the-scenes tour of new haunted attraction, followed by front-of-line access to the attraction when it opens at 6"

884 Coasters, 35 States, 7 Countries

I've been going to CP since around 1975. A friend of mine wanted to go to Halloweekends 2 years ago so we ended up going on the saturday during Pointfest. The most crowded I have ever seen the park bar none.
