Has the Left Side Been Chained Off?

A friend of mine headed out to CP today with his family and I had told him I preferred Gatekeeper's left side to its right. He texted me earlier saying when he got to the split, the left side had been chained off and he was told by an employee that it was for Fast Lane only. Has anyone else heard of this?

Wasn't like that last weekend or any of my other visits.

Odd, dunno...never seen that happen before, and was just there on 08JUL13

That's what I thought too, but I just had another friend confirm it as well as Maverick saving a full train for Fast Lane guests. Not liking what I'm hearing.

I'm calling BS on this one.

GateKeeper ride ops are sending FastLane+ to the left side. But, if it was only FastLake+, you would be seeing empty trains going out. They probably were just directed right at a moment when FastLane+ were being allowed to enter. I was there on the 4th and experienced it. When I asked to wait to go left, they said, "no problem". I moved aside to allow people behind me to pass to go right.

Yeah, there is no way in hell that they even sell enough Fast Lane+ to fill literally half of the ride's capacity.

My favorite seat is left back, I've never had a problem going to the left side whenever I ridden.

I could picture it being this way during the peak hours of the day when the wait is 1 hour+ but in the evening (when i always ride it) ive never seen this happen.

What? That would be the worst time to do it. There aren't ever going to be 800 FL+ riders per hour. Ever. They merge is an necessary.

Never seen this happen on any of my rides either -- that doesn't mean they might not route things differently for periods of time during the day, but wouldn't worry too much about this being a regular thing...just happened to the OP at that time they were at the split...

I've seen them temporarily block the left side when fast lane users are coming through. But they always take the chain down as soon as they're done passing by.

Was there yesterday to confirm this. It is true, but one of the ride ops told me that it is usually only necessary for about the 1st 30mins of the day. The line still moves rather smoothly, but it just takes away the option of riding the left side.

I was there yesterday afternoon, and got in line about 3:30. Less than a half hour wait total including the ride. When we got to the merge, they directed the fast lanes to the right side as it was the shorter line at the time.

Seems the line really falls off later in the day. Most times when I ride it is after 9:00pm and the line is not much longer then at the bottom of the stairs for either side. Probably about a 10-15 min. wait.

Totally with you, hopefully we can ask to go to the other side if that would happen, hope this doesn't become a habit for cp, and more importantly...Cedar Fair.
