Hotels around CP

grind your sould - you are welcome. However make sure you do NOT stay in room 119. You get what you pay for. Free=ew. LOL. (we stayed there July 4th) We toughed it out as we weren't in the room for more than a few hours to sleep, but if I were staying a full day there, NO WAY. The room next door to us, had it's curtains open and that room looked to be in MUCH better condition than our room was in. Maybe they wait for the freebies to show up and give them the crappiest room possible? heh.

Good Luck on getting a better room than we did. lol.

Thanks for the tips!

Unfortunately, my comrade and I did some searching, and the room rates cannot be found cheaper for the days we want to be there.

It's all good, though.

Does anyone have any info/horror stories about the HoJo Express on Cleveland Road, just south of the CP causeway? 'Cause that's where we're going.

That tip about Travelodge also helped me out. My family is heading to Busch Gardens Williamsburg in a few weeks, and it looks like we can get a free room there due to this deal.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I still say the Best Western on Cleveland Rd is the best OFF POINT deal going. Heated pool, Perkins on site, very clean rooms, hot hot showers, beautiful courtyard to sit and talk when you can't sleep... Check it out.

The hotel that I like to stay at, but didn't this year is the Comfort Inn on Cleveland road, route 6 in Huron. That one is my favorite nearby the park. I usually stay there in the spring and late fall and I would say the price is around $75-$85 bucks a night during those times of year. My favorite hotel on the Cedar Point peninsula is the Breakers Express!

I often stay at the Knight's Inn on Cleveland Rd. Yes, there are train tracks nearby, but I'm usually tired enough after a day at the park or a day of driving or both that it doesn't matter. Cheap is what counts

Breakers Express is not on the Cedar Point peninsula. Its on the mainland. Only Hotel Breakers and Sandcastle are on the peninsula.

^ Ohh Fudge! Alright, then that would be my second favorite hotel near Cedar Point as well as owned by Cedar Point.

Econo Lodge on Route 6 offers reasonable rates, especially AAA members, with clean rooms and free continental breakfast. The owners are very nice and friendly people.

I sometimes stay at Quality Inn across the street, which is conveniently connected to the Thirsty Pony.

There are two King Suites w/ Jacuzzi's in there. Off season we went up to the point for a weekend getaway once and got that room. Great decision haha. The rooms are a bit dingy/outdated, but nothing too terrible.

I really like the Econo Lodge also. The owners are great, breakfast is good, the rooms are clean, and the location is pretty much prefect. This weekend will be our third time staying there this year, always been as positive experience.

^ You guys are right about Econo Lodge. My only advice about that hotel is don't stay there during bike week. You'll be kept up all night from the bikers. As far as their breakfast, is it anything like Comfort Inn or quality Inn across the street?

Gotta love zombie threads...

My wife, sister and I just stayed at the Country Inn and Suites off Rte 2 in Port Clinton. It was cheaper for us because we used our "free" night with hotels.com, but I'd say the price before that was reasonable for a night's stay. It's only 20ish minutes from the park, you avoid all the Rte 250 traffic, and it was really comfortable.

I know it's not a hotel, but we really enjoyed our stay at Camp Sandusky over Columbus Day weekend. Owners were really nice, lots of stuff to do at the campground, nice sites (we brought our camper). I'd recommend it, especially if Lighthouse Point is sold out.
