Wow. Did anyone here realize that gullible isn't in the dictionary? For some reason its always been left out. ;)

Here's a tip: If Jugga ever uses the term "OMG", there's a 2000% chance that he's joking around. :)

Brandon

Dude thanks a million I have always been gullible and this proves it... but honestly one day they might change your Raptor and then what you gonna say...... LOL....

JuggaLotus's avatar

Be fair. It's much closer to a 3000% chance than 2000%. I say its right about 2843% chance that I'm joking.
Now if I also say that it ROXORZ TEH BIG ONE!!!!!!111 then that turns it into an exponential function proportionate to the number of 1's after the !'s. The more 1's the more you multiply 2843 by to get the real percentage of how much I am joking.

I'll go Waco and take the whole thing down.

I'll drink that kool-aid, too, John.

CP DOES modify coasters. Just look at the modifications they made to Mantis and Mean Streak. Those trims make the ride so much better! I think Raptor needs a set of trims for the big 2-0!
Careful what you wish for

But I would hardly call those "Improvements".

Raptor does have trims. The mid-course acts as one. Without them would make the ride feel a bit rough in spots.

Seriously, they don't use those much anymore. When they do, they're on very very lightly.

I think that they could add some length to the track though instead of building a huge new ride spend 10 mill and upgrade a current one....

djDaemon's avatar

Raptor is just fine as is.

Instead of spending $10 million on improvements, they could spend $12 million on two world-class flats. Skyhawk only cost $6 million, if I remember correctly.

I just honestly dont see what you could upgrade.

Raptor is one of the best inverts in the world...so good that clones of it are still being made as "new rides" in parks today. Not to mention ridership...I dont work at CP, but I would guess that Raptor also has close to the best ridership in the park. Ive never seen the line sparse.

If they were to ever consider reworking/modifying a track layout for a coaster, please make it Iron Dragon. Iron Dragon compared to other parks with Arrow suspended coaster frankly sucks. (Vortex at Canada's Wonderland, Top Gun at Kings Island)

I could be wrong, but seems some minor changes to get a little more speed could greatly improve the ride experience.(What good is a swinging coaster if it doesn't swing!)

P.S. Don't touch Raptor :-) *** Edited 4/6/2006 2:29:14 PM UTC by Headrush***

I dunno, Top Gun leaves a lot to be desired as well. Its only 11 mph "faster", 2 ft taller and not any more fun, IMO. When I rode Top Gun, I was not impressed in the least. Although, at the time, Iron Dragon (my only other invert experience then) was still surrounded by trees, which added a lot to the experience.

Iron Dragon is a good tame coaster, which fits the bill for families and youngsters. Not every coaster needs to be a speed demon, after all. I could see them replacing it with a new invert, but with a similar ride experience in terms of intensity.

Brandon

I didn't say it was a lot better, but I still think better.

A coaster can still be tame, but use it unique attributes.
Corkscrew is tame, but it does inversions, Iron Dragon is a swinging coaster and should swing. :-)

Hell, I get more swinging around action in Meanstreak!

Iron Dragon isn't any good any more. This isn't a typical "it's not tall or fast enough", but the atmosphere of the ride is gone. It went from being surrounded by many trees to a not-so-perty setting. If they fixed up landscaping, it would be better again.

There gonna have to plant a lot of trees to get it close to the way it was...

Ride Big Bad Wolf at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

Now THAT is what a suspended coaster is supposed to be like. Easily the best in the world.

There is nothing wrong with Raptor or Mantis or Iron Dragon and all the other rides mentioned in this thread. I will not say anything about Disaster Transport. Also talking about the trims, If I remember correctly they no longer use the trims on the Mantis.
