Interesting tidbit of the day

Cedar Fair CEO and president Dick Kinzel said originally the park was considering a new water ride for the 2005 season, and that would have been in Frontierland.

A Snoopy themed log flume! Crap, heres to hoping they get one in the future. :)

Wow. That wouldn't have been that bad of an idea...

However, I'd agree with the CP staff in saying that maXair was a better idea. :)

Well maybe thats a hint for 2006.

Makes one wonder what type of water ride it was. We already have a rapids ride, a flume ride, and a chute back there. My guess is one of those wet/dry spinning rapids rides (like S.F.Astroworld). Move the Wave Swinger, situate it between the Thunder Canyon and the old Frontier Carrousel building so that the riders land in the pool formerly occupied by the Swan Boats. Yea, that's it.

The Wet/Dry Spinning ride you are refering to, is it this one? http://www.sixflags.com/parks/astroworld/Rides/diablofalls.html

Just curious?

Could they have put a ride in similar to this year's new ride at sister park Valleyfair???

Doesn't this kind of disprove the theory of removing White Water Landing? If they're wanting to add water rides, I don't see why they would be taking any out. Just a thought.

Sweet! The Mill Race is coming back. ;)

Yes, Detroit Basketball, that very one. Thanks.

Anyhow, I thought the rumored removal of White Water Landing was to make room for the rumored new coaster, not a rumored water ride.

Junior, yes that would be soooo sweet to have the Mill Race back. (It's too bad it couldn't be saved to be put along Frontier Trail somewhere. It would be the perfect setting for that little ride.) My college / CP roomate and best friend worked on the Mill Race and he always had great stories. He also worked on Shoot the Rapids for a season. That was also a great ride, and a real soaker. Physically demanding to operate, too.

Cedar Point tomorrow. WoooHooooCantWait.

I could see a ride like Riptide (or whatever it's called) at Knott's go in back there. I was actually hoping for a ride like that, but I'm very pleased with maXair.

Since when does Fort Sandusky release *any* plans for expansion? I think Mr. Kinzel must be getting soft in his old age. ;)

WWL is a perfectly fine ride, and the station/departure point has some reasonable theming. However, it occurred to me as I was riding it on Sunday that if it were to be replaced with a better water ride, I'd be all for it. Log rides, in particular, seem to me to scream for theming along the way, since most of the ride is spent just piddling along waiting to get to the only real action in the ride.

Of course, I'm not expecting splash mountain, but there are better flumes at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and even a Cedar Fair park!

One oft-rumored replacement is a Setpoint suspended water coaster. After riding the one at Carowinds, I don't see CP adding one. It's a ton of fun, but even with separate unload/load stations, the capacity is going to look a lot like Wildcat's. A twin installation (like Primeval Whirl at Animal Kingdom), maybe. But just one? I wouldn't think so.

Why couldn't WWL just be rethemed to Snoopy? It's easier and a whole lot cheaper than building an entirely new ride.

Re-themed? Avalanche Run to Disaster Transport immediately comes to mind :)

Hey, the PKI flume looks great since it was re-themed.

Yeah but that's PKI who has had good success with theming their rides. CP on the other hand hasn't had a very good track record.
