Is Top Thrill Dragster really that scary?

Well it's my first time posting and i have only been to Cedar Point once. When i went this year i walked into the park and looked at all the rides as of then i had never seen the park except for the computer screen and everything looked HUGE!!!! Then me and my friend RAN to TTD and we got to the entrance right as it was launching! i had never seen a coaster this big in my life! i decided to go into the line and then chickened out.....For those out there who have ridden TTD, what is it like?

Im telling you getting scared and leaving the line was a bad idea. You are missing the best ride ever.

Today was my first time.. No holding on.. (of course)

awesome-o wasnt scared.. 13 and not scared..

< @ : )

I'd say my best ride on Top Thrill Dragster was my first ride when i was ready to wet my pants. Even after riding it like 10 times I still get a bit nervous before the launch. It's an awesome ride and you are missing out if you dont ride it.

Its over so quick you barley even have time to be scared. I find Millennium Force more intimidating, and a better ride.

Just ride it

Man, the only remotely scary part is waiting to be launched. After that it's pure fun, on my first ride my hands went up right at the crest of the hill.

I'd describe it as uncomfortably fast- but that's why it's fun!

Once you are actually strapped in and waiting to be launched you will be fine.

Then on the 7th day, God went to CEDAR POINT

Yeah the only part that is scary is the launch on your first ride, after that you'll be screaming and enjoying it. The tower does look every Intimidating, but the view at the top is so sweet. I say ride it, try it out.

Quote from a Corkscrew ride op, "And Dragster is down again"

You must ride it,it looks scarey but it really isnt, one you ride it you wont wana leave,oh and a +, you must ride it at night,i find night riding TTD awesome, but keep your mouth closed cause you just might catch a few bugs hehehe.

I can tell you that I spent 3 seasons chickening out on this ride while everyone I was with (mostly family) went on it and made fun of me for not riding Dragster... so for the 2003, 2004, 2005 seasons I sat by and watched my family and friends get launched and then come off the exit ramp jubilant while I chickened out...

Well finally last year on my first trip to tpoint I was a camp counselor for a summer cam for talented and gifed students who go to cedar point twice for a physics program... well all of these fifth, sixth, and seventh grade students were lining up at 9:30 am in line before the ride opened while "Counselor Drew" was trying to come up with soem lame excuse to get out of facing my fear... BTW it should be noted that I would ride any other ride at the park (except the spinning flat rides becasuse I get sick on them... especially withches wheel which I passed out on as a child and never rode again...)... So at 9:30 am on a summer morning in 2006 I got dragged into line and could not believe I was about to do this... I was convinced that I was going to pee and poo myself or have a heart attack...

As we got to the station we got in line... I was in the second train middle section for the sixth train of the day... I was shaking in fear and my mind was in another place as I could not believe I was actually buckling up into the seat... My legs were trembling and my hands were sweating profusely... Then we began to move forward and I watched as the first train launched ahead of us and flew up the tower while I sat in a trian full of middle school genisues and I was trying to put on a brave face for their sake (many of them had never been on a roller coaster before and they were starting with dragster... If they could do it surely I could too.... right?)

So we moved up to the launch position... now I was terrified... We waited... and waited... and waited... I was trembling nd quiretly saying "Oh god... Oh god..." then I heard the catchcar pin drop and we moved backwards a few inches... I knew that ther was no escape... I recall all I could say was "ehhhhhh... ehhhhh..." And then we went from not moving to hurdling down the track at 122 miles an hour in what seemed instaneous... I could not even scream... by the time I said "Oh my god!!!" We were at the top of the tower about to crest over... I did not even realize we had gone up the tower... within seconds we went down the tower and into the brakerun... and it was over... I began to laugh uncontrollably and had a grin on my face that would not go away... it was great... to be honest I was quite embarrassed that I had put so much effort into coming up with so many excuses to not ride... It was definitely not a scary ride and the launch was quite smooth... even smoother than millenium force... I went back on later that after noon with 7 of the boys that I was chaperoning and the second ride was much better as I was better prepared to experience the ride and take in what was going on around me.... I rode dragster 7 times during the 2006 season and will be going to cedar point 4 times in the next 2 weeks for the camp program and cannot wait to ride dragster again... and get my first ride on maverick on tuesday!!! So yeah, to make a long story short, just get on dragster, it is much scarier to look at it than it is to ride it...

2006 Screamster (Fright Zone)

Along with Andrew I spent four years chickening out on that ride. This year I with with a couple friends and I just went on. The scariest part for me was waiting in line and sitting there before the launch. I had the height in my head but the ride was great I would go on it again. I didn't think it was that scary but like I said I was more scared waiting to get launched and waiting in line.

Caitlin

What cracks me up is when older folks chicken out and there is someone barely tall/old enough to ride in the front seat.

When we go again this July I am looking forward to going on it....now i just need to convince my friend!

Before my first ride I was freaked out. But as soon as I was strapped in I was fine. Those lapbars feel very secure.

Top Coasters:

1. Maverick 2. Millennium Force 3. Top Thrill Dragster 4. Sheikra 5. Magnum

ride on ride warriors, ride on

I rode it when i was 13 (the first year it came out) and i thought it was amazing. I will admit that the first time i rode it i was nervous about the launch, but once that happens, you'll relize that its a great ride. I just wish they made it longer, 10-15 sec. is way to short.

Trips to Cedar Point: 15 in 7 years
Rides on Magnum: 20
Rides on TTD: 8
Rides on MF: To many to count!!!!

My daughter was afraid of riding it last year. But now that she's five, she's getting more interested.
