It's a little breezy up there...

So I'm sure this has been asked before but my Google searchfu is lacking this early on a Saturday morning.

We have people here that have worked, I'm guessing, almost every coaster in the park. Hypothetically speaking, if it were a beautiful day with no precipitation, and the wind was high, how high does it have to be to shut down particular rides?

We know Space Spiral and Sky Ride shut down when someone sneezes the wrong way but as for the coasters? Is there a particular wind speed that shuts them down? Is it direction? Just curious if anyone knows.

Ride on, MrScott!

With gusts up to 55 mph things do not sound too good.

I believe Dragster shuts down if the winds are at 35 mph or greater at the top of the tower. Raptor also shuts down in high winds, but I don't know the exact speed.

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

Raptor also depends on the wind direction, but I don't recall the details.

If I were going today (and I am) I would expect to enjoy the Halloweekends shows and the flats, and not be on too many coasters. Sunday might be more of the same, but not quite as bad.

Don't forget about Fright Zone, CarnEvil, or Fear Faire tonight. Those will be horrible with these wind gusts.

I belive Skyride doesn't take much wind to shut down.

Skyride shuts down with a wind of 20mph.

The direction of wind has a lot to do with it as well. If gust wind are coming directly off of Sandusky Bay, Raptor shuts down right away.

What rides have a chance of closing tommorow?

All depends on how windy it is.

So we're not really positive what it takes to shut down any particular rides other than Sky Ride.

35 mph is the believed wind speed to shut down Dragster and wind direction has bearing on Raptor, but as for speeds no one really knows?

On the CP websight the wind is going to be between 17mph and 23mph. Although that could change.

TTD is currently down due to high winds

TTD, MF, Magnum, Mantis, and Mean Streak were all running earlier today (Saturday 12-3pm) and it was really windy. I think Raptor was the only one down for wind then.

Dragster's running right now.....though the winds arent really blowing that hard. I sure hope tomorrow shapes up better than the what the predictions are showing.

Yeah, TTD opened around 7 or 8 this evening. As of when I left at 10:30, they were only loading 4 people per train.

WildCat, Raptor, Sky Ride, Space Spiral, and the Giant Wheel, and Wave Swinger were all down to weather, although WildCat, Raptor, and Wave Swinger opened around 9.

I got in line for TTD around 9:30pm when they just started letting people on, only loading 4 people per train in the first two rows. (because of the wind?) I was so mad, it would have been over an hour wait, I was standing just before the ramp. So I didn't get to ride.

But they were testing it earlier around 6:30pm, some I seen at 127mph and not making it over yet people stood there all day waiting for it to open. At least it wasn't as crowded as last saturday.
