It's official, No Autospiels for 2006

I just emailed Cedar Point regarding the auto spiels and they responded and asked about MF, TTD and WT as well:

Dan,

Thank you for your opinion and suggestion. Our current position on
ride spiels is that we are trying to make the guest's experience a more
personal experience. Having the ride host spiel is far more personal
than a canned spiel from a recorder. This is why we have chosen the live
spiel.

Thank you again for your comment.

I really think that this is a good idea but I am absolutely OUTRAGED at the fact they are eliminating Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, and Top Thrill Dragsters spiels/music.

No more Ready to Go, No more Techno in MF's station. The vibe in the station won't be the same. I for one actually liked the guy who sayed "Welcome to Top Thrill Dragster, for you safety and the safety...."

Do you guys really think that "All clear you're outta here" really fits the mood of Millennium Force? No. Raptor? Yes Magnum? Yes All of the other coasters? Yes but not MF and TTD.

I know theres another thread but this is the official decision so I thought I'd post it. Looks like I'll be listening to my ipod in the station on MF :P *** Edited 5/8/2006 8:32:17 PM UTC by skifan23***

Cry me a river, and I'll build you a bridge so you can get over it.

Well, that's too bad; I wish they would have atleast kept the music...

People bitch and moan both ways. Amazing.

And all spiels are audio, it's just some are automated (i.e., "auto spiels").

i never bitched before. like i said though, i was one of the few that like the auto spiels on the new coasters. (WT, MF, TTD) for the people that go every single year, its sad when things like that go away though. its like tradition. but, i'll still go. :)

i have to say, i'll miss the cool techno music and the "ready to go" jingle!!

You're too kind.

It's not that big of a deal, and I didn't intend to make it seem like one, but I think it's one of the dumbest decisions that Cedar Point has ever made. In fact, that should be a compliment to them.

Like I said, I think that it's great to get rid of them on most the coasters, but MF and TTD should keep theirs. Just my opinion, sorry if I seem like I'm bitching.

The music goes hand and hand with the ride. I wish they could keep it.

Jeff I have never heard anyone ever bitch about the music in TTD and MF. Amazing.

<Matt>
101 on Magnum and counting...

I loved them too!! I wish that they would at least keep the music - It really did spice up TTD MF and WT

Cedar Point - An adventure waiting for everyone.

I DONT EVEN FRICKEN BELIEVE IT! Cedar Point, what are you thinking taking away the autospiel from Millennium Force?!?!?! I am so upset I cant even tell you. For all you people who enjoy a real person doing a spiel, I will never understand your thinking. Now we get to hear some jerk teenager tired of spieling with an annoying voice inside Millennium's station. WOW I WANT TO LISTEN TO THAT RIGHT AWAY... instead of the awesome techno music!! .... The LEAST they could do is put the music back for millennium force, that was like my life that music. If they don't do that Cedar Point can kiss my ass. What's next, they are tearing down Millennium Force cause its in the way......

thank you.....and enjoy your record breaking ride on Millennium Force!

Fine, eliminate the speil, but bring back the music. It builds the excitement.

All they need to do is reprogram the DAC's with the original remix without the voiceover.

Blue people fly sideways when it rains

I guess its more of a "tradition" thing for most people. The newest coasters all had the auto-spiel, and everyone seemed to be fine with that. But it was when they tampered with the classic coasters. If they are going to go with the auto-speil at all, keep it with the newer coasters, the way they were originally intended for, but they should have at least grandfathered the older coasters, like Magnum and Gemini to keep their appeal of having a personal speil. That said, nobody is ever going to be 100% satisfied with any decision the park makes. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Whoa there Full Force..haha Chill out. No one likes Techno anyways ;)

I frankly would rather listen to a Ride Op. It seems like they are listened to a lot more then your standard automated speil...they are mostly drown out by station noise anyways...

It doesnt matter anyways..the two best speilers in the park belong on the Mantis and Raptor crews. I remember last year on Mantis there was this one kid..he was really tall and had dark hair..i think his name was Derek but it wasnt spelled like that...i forget how he spelled it...He made our experience amazing and was a blast to listen too...he was really funny. I hope he comes back this year...He was probly one of the best I have heard. Not only did he cover all the saftey things but he added his own little touch of personality and flair...Thats what Cedar Point needs...More of kids like him

Blasphemy! With or without that wink.

Brandon

I'm glad to see them back. I'll sacrafice the music any day for the personality of the ride ops.

Dan

No Ready to Go? No The Winner? No MF Theme song? :(

After collecting them on my computer (including MF), they're gone. Sucks... but maybe the personal ones will be cool (personal quirks and stuff), be what we were complaining about last year.

Alright, what I have heard is that the music will return, but it will be a live voice over top of it.

Is it really that big of a deal?

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

i think its a big deal. i love the synthesized voices on wicked twister and MF. it was part of the ride to me. it would almost be like a b&m coaster without the roar. or power tower without the whoosh.

i might be the only one that remembers this, but i REALLY miss the sound of the air brakes on magnum from the first couple of years it was open. on the last brake run before the station it would make this awesome noise. magnum hasn't been the same since that noise went away.

sounds, smells, and visuals are what makes CP. its all a package deal. its the "theming" of the park. :)

Music returning for Millennium would be a good compromise. I mean NO MUSIC?! Alot of people loved that, including me, that was like my life! You HAVE to have the music for millennium force! My lord...

btw, Ride op spiels are STUPID AND ANNOYING. That ladies voice for millennium was AWESOME

BirdsOfPrey... what you said is EXACTLY RIGHT! AMEN TO THAT! *** Edited 5/8/2006 10:04:38 PM UTC by Full_Force_2000***
