labor day crowds

im going to cedar point on labor day. will it be crowded? i dont think it will be because theres a chance of rain and its only open from 10-8.

Labor Day will probably be busy, just like it is all previous years. Wife and I go nearly every Sunday, and when we went for Labor Day (one of the only Mondays we went) a few years ago, it was much busier than Sundays. Basically, holiday weekends are always busy.

I went Sunday (yesterday) afternoon and it was quite crowded. I waited 1-1/2 hours to ride the Maverick, which I normally would not have done had it not been for my 2 friends I was with had never ridden the ride. So. I went along with it. I too am curious if the park is going to be crowded today. So far, as I'm looking on the webcams, the crowds seem to be light. I was thinking about heading back out to the point, as I wanted to do some shopping. I'm looking for a specific hooded sweatshirt that I really wanted earlier in the season, but never got around to buying it. Now that I want it, none of the shops seem to have any more!! :-( So, I'll probably head up there later this afternoon....after I'm done being lazy around the house, of course!

I just got back from CP today (Labor Day) and again, was quite crowded. I really thought it wouldn't be, but again, was surprised. I only went because I was looking for that sweatshirt hoodie (yay, I found it!! last one!). But I did take a walk around the park and there was a lot of people there. I'm guessing this Friday and Sunday should be pretty light crowds. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make any of those days, as I have things to do those days. but the following Halloweekend ,I'll be there! Opening day!

I'll put my 2 cents worth in..

Up until around noon, the park was not very crowded on labor day.. I planned a trip from 9pm to 2pm today, and most rides were less than a 15 minute wait.

I could tell that after Noon, though, that crowds were beginning to pick-up, so I decided to check out GateKeeper at 1:30, and it had only a 20 minute wait.

I rode that and headed home around 1:48pm.

There were sprinkles in the morning, and I believe Iron Dragon closed because of those sprinkles. Raptor was down at around 9:30, because a harness broke a bolt.. (I was the only one sitting in that row, and when the ride host moved the harness down, something popped, and fell to the ground. He picked it up and it was a nut, and broken bolt) It was about a 10 minute delay for maintenance to look at it and place a Do Not use sign on that seat. Then we were off and running again. :)

I rode 14 rides, in 5 hours -

GateKeeper 2 times, Raptor, Millennium Force, Dragster, Corkscrew, Magnum, Iron Dragon, and Mantis (1 time) Power Tower (up and down) Sky Ride, Tilt-a-Whirl, Cadillac Cars.

And I stopped for a bite to eat at Coasters. ($12.00)

I had a good day. :)

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.

Morning was pretty light but it definitely got crowded after lunch and hotter. We went for the early entrance and ended up wasting half of it walking to Dragster only to have it go down when we were 2 trains way from riding and then walking all the way around to Millenium. Should have just started at Millenium to begin with after GateKeeper.

Don't you hate when you waste early entry time? I always feel disappointed, almost like I cheated myself, when this happens. Sorry to hear, Paisley.

Today was an awesome closing day at the Soak City swim-up bar, Bubbles. All the regulars were there and we had an awesome time drinking, laughing and just having a great time. Great bar staff, Victor, Radu, Mark, and I'm missing someone, but thanks for a great summer of excellent service and fun.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

And it's the only early entry I've been to (sobs quietly to self) LOL because I'm the only one in the family with Platinum so being able to get the kids in early for the appreciation weekend was a big thing. Looking out over an almost empty parking lot while riding GateKeeper was cool though. Still haven't done Dragster yet. We're developing a bad history of always having it go down when we get in line.

We had a great Labor Day weekend at CP. Got there Friday and stayed at Camper Village until late Monday afternoon. Split time at both CP and Soak City at Bubbles which is always a great time. Got a lot of rides in and just enjoyed walking the park and marina.

My son and I went by ourselves this afternoon, didn't get there until after 4 p.m.

Very short waits/walk-ons except half hour for MF. Rode Ocean Motion, Gatekeeper twice, Wicked Twister, Raptor, Blue Streak, Millennium twice, Mantis, Magnum, Gemini, and ended with Dragster. Didn't make it to Maverick although I'm sure it had its obligatory hour wait anyway. Still feel like we got a lot done today in the short period of time we had so I'm pleased.

Gemini was only running the red train and that had only a handful of people on it. Of course some fool had a cell phone out and we had to wait on the lift hill. Blue Streak was also ghost town as well as Magnum. Mantis was pretty much empty. But they were handing out Advil at the exit as a consolation.

This will all change in a couple of weeks when Halloweekends start and all queues will more than likely be open.

We had an awesome day, not nearly as crowded as last year's labor day. Even with all the chaos of coordinating with a lot of family and friends that accompanied us, we rode all our favorites at least 2x with minimal wait time.

Yes we went on Labor as well...awesome time...but then it got hot..my group were all smiles as literally every ride we went to would have long lines after we got in line!! Of course Maverick was an hour wait and millenium force was about an hour which would be the longest we waited all day...

SIDE NOTE: at 6'1 304 pounds I was able to ride every coaster except wicked twister which has tighter seating to me...other than that every ride was sure fit for me today and personal goal on my wieght loss journey...best labor day ever.....
