Magnum lift (was: Question for Everyone)

What is the angle of ascent on the Magnum first hill?

It's definitely a 60 degree angle on a 195 foot drop.
The key word in his question is ASCENT. I think it's somewhere around 30 degrees.
Er, folks, that's the angle of DESCENT...60 degrees down a vertical change of elevation of 194 feet 8 inches. The angle of ASCENT is considerably less than that...let me see if I have a suitable photograph here...Nope, that's something else someone can do on a visit up there this weekend...you'll need a protractor and a plumb bob, or a photograph taken at a right angle to the lift hill... --Dave Althoff, Jr.
Nahhh...any photo from the side will do...you can use the supports as your guide for the right angle.

I know the length of Magnum's lift was floating around somewhere when we compared it to the length of MF's lift. To find the angle of inclination of the lift hill, simply take Inverse Sin of [height of hill (approx 205)]/[length of lift (the hypotenuse of the triangle)]. If I weren't scrambling to type this at school, I'd take some time to find that number. I believe the amount is somewhere around 30 degrees though.
Ok, so that makes the lift hill 28.54543332... degrees. Man I hate Geometry!!!

Actually, if I remember the thread correctly, we were assuming Magnum's lift was ~30 degrees and rounding off for the lengths.

Well, then that could throw the calculation into a little bit of feed back there. For all intesive purposes then: lift hill 30 degrees. It looks right, and is common on many other coasters, too.
