Now it's 52" instead of 48"

That's quite interesting. They even changed most (if not all) the references to that on their site. They modified the original press release for the ride too.

Family ride what? :)

OMFG I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY LIED TO US. I PLANNED MY WHOLE TRIP THINKING THAT MY BROTHERS, NEPHEWS, COUSINS, FORMER ROOMATE WHO IS GOING WITH US WOULD BE ABLE TO RIDE (HE'S A MIDGET). NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT OUR TRIP. CEDAR POINT IS SO EVIL FOR NOT TELLING US THIS BACK IN 2001 THAT MAVERICK WOULD BE 52 INSTEAD OF 48. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS.

Hmm... Speculation... Could it be that they wanted to raise it to keep riders head above the OTSRs to limit headbanging on the restraints?

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

IDK, I was looking to see if my lil brothers could ride maXair and I saw they changed it. Its all for safety probably, be glad that littler kids won't be able to ride it and get hurt. I'm glad that they raised it, chances are they are doing it in everyone's best interest.

Raising the height limit doesn't make my head any taller. :)

How short ARE you Tim?

LOL!! 5'-7" I don't have issues with Intamin OTSR's really - at least not so far. But, B&M restraints hit my ears if the coaster is rough and any kind of Vekoma or Arrow coaster is pure pain.

I'm 5'6, the only coaster I had problems with was corkscrew, but I was 11 and alot shorter. lol.

Its a good thing I'm not going to be there this weekend, I'd feel like I was at a little people convention.

Goodbye MrScott

John

LOL! I won't be there either John. I planned my trip in August when the lines would be really long so VIP would be more worth it - and Maverick would be open (hopefully). :) It's funny too because the guys I go to the parks with are like 6'-0" and 6'-3".

I sorta wish I was in Ohio this weekend though. It feels like it's 100 degrees out right now with the 80% humidity and almost 90 degree temps.

Well, that sucks for my son. He's 47 inchs w/out shoes. Hes has been looking to ride Mave with me. Guess not now.

Man I hope that the coaster industry startsto use larger height limits and can finally build the rides to accommidate some guests of larger size. I mean I'm not that big of a guy (compared to a lot of people I know) and it seems like the larger rides are more designed for smaller children to fit into that probably wouldn't ride anyhow. What has completely boggled my mind though were these ads that have been springing up all over the west side of Cleveland roadside billboards featuring the "fairy God Mother " from Cinderella stating "4'9" is the magic number for children using booster seats". It's just so ironic that a child that ,by industry safety standards ,has to ride in a booster seat in a car, butcan go ahead and ride a 400+ft. coaster at CP.But I ,a grown adult, can barely fit in it. Now that's what I call IRONIC.

I had heard from some seasonal friends of mine that they were going to change the height requirement. I guess they were telling the truth. I wonder if it will be permanent or if they'll do what they did with MF and lower it back to 48 inches after one season?

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

That would be nice if they did that lower it back down to 48 but who knows.

This sucks! I was at the park today with my daughter who is 49" in shoes and I kept telling her she would be able to ride it once it opened. I actually saw Mr. Kinzel looking at Maverick this afternoon. I told him it was a nice looking ride and he replied that it would be even nicer if it was running :) . I was just about to thank him for bringing in another coaster you could ride at 48" but a group of kids jumped in and gave him their idea for "a 200 foot coaster that went 100 feet underground". It was nice to see him talking to the customers like that. Let me tell you, I could tell it pains him that this ride it not open yet.

As for my duaghter, she was so cool. Everyone couldn't believe she was going on the Demon Drop, the Magnum, Skyhawk and Millennium while grown men and women were shaking just looking at the rides.

Storm Runners Height Requirement is 54”. It’s interesting that CP tried to go with 48” originally. The shoulder bar is pretty high up there, making it easier to accommodate taller riders. You can see in thie picture below that the one kids head barely gets to the top of the shoulder bar. I could imagine a shorter kids head getting under and out possibly.
