Mean Streak- Redone

If it is as smooth as Rougarou, I'll still need a chiropractor.

For me, corkscrew, front seat. Not all arrow trains have full open interior fronts, but cork does and the leg room is eminence!!

Just a thought, Would it be possible to retrofit some sort of suspension on Mean Streak's cars?

I don't think it's possible in a way to fix the shimmy and bouncing the ride currently goes through.

Ideally, it needs a reprofile and reinforcement to bring excitement and comfort to the ride.

rmc can help you with that

Holiday World is doing a major rehab job on The Legend. Adding new drops, reconfiguring a corner, replacing rough sections of track, speeding certain sections up and adding a tunnel. But, what do they know about wooden coasters?

I agree. GCI scored some good business this off-season with The Legend and Ghostrider. If those two high profile projects go well, it could really open up some additional opportunities for them. I understand the hype related to RMC, but with Cedar Fair's history of working with GCI, it is a very viable option.

So much comes down to what the park wants to do and then finding the right company to carry out their vision.

I really hope there's an RMC in Cedar Point's future, even if it's something built from scratch.

It's worth pointing out that Ghostrider and The Legend don't suck, and as such are worthy of moderate retracking/refurbishment projects. Mean Streak sucks, and not just according to me. Look at the various polls out there. Ghostrider and The Legend rank far higher than Mean Streak.

^ Ride op speak. It is 2nd car 1st row. thedevaririouseffect, do you have a preference between load or unload side?

I have preference for unload. I sat there primarily through the season because I could look at the lift stairs, lights, etc. Unload gives you a good view of the drop and a better view of Power Tower. However I really enjoy looking left to Breakers and the lake, especially now with the Breakers renovation. Plus last point, it gets me out of the train quicker if I ride on my own :P

The problem with a GCI retrack is that it doesn't change what I hate about Mean Streak. It's just so boring. I don't find it to be too rough, in fact, I think The Beast is about on par with Mean Streak, and both are smoother than Mighty Canadian Minebuster, but Mean Streak is basically one slow, boring turn after another with an airtimeless airtime hill mixed in here or there. The ride's only redeeming quality is asthetically, and that doesnt even come close to redeeming it's doo-doo factor. I also hope they re profile that helix on legend. That thing is not good.

^ With the modifications they're making to Legend, would this be considered a new coaster in a way? As far as Mean Streak goes, you're right about the Thrill factor part. It just doesn't have any intensity. If anything ever changes with the layout, I would hope they keep that square pattern that Mean Streak has, but make it more Thrilling.

Legend will not be fundamentally changed.

IF Point decided to do a major overhaul to Mean Streak and IF they chose a more traditional company like GCI to do it over RMC I would still tend to think we would see more of a major reprofile then just a simple retracking. More banking, more pops of airtime, less trims, maybe even the removal of the midcourse like Ghostrider, etc. I agree that a simple retracking of the ride does not fix the problem of it being boring.

Why more banking? Laterals are fun on wood coasters. One if the best parts of the Mean Streak layout is the third turn that goes through the structure. Some decent laterals, less then before they trimmed the first drop though. Mean Streak needs some decent air time but not more banking.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

^ I was just pointing out that IF Point decided to so major work on Mean Streak I doubt it would be a simple retarcking of the lay out as is.

Mean Streak needs structural rigidity, so it can return to full speed.

I must say, when they do run the ride without trims (only been on it once like that, two years ago on closing day. No trims and MCBR wasnt doing anything.) the ride is rough, but pretty fun. I rode it probably five times that day, and was surprised at the potential the ride has, and it just makes me more disappointed at the outcome of it. Wether it be GCI or RMC, someone needs to make this ride live up to its potential.

Agreed. My cousin and I got the only untrimmed first drop ride we've ever gotten on Mean Streak during a night ride at Halloweekends. It was a riot until we got knocked down to a crawl at the MCBR. RMC all the way. Goliath at SFGam is only 1 hour from me, it's the best coaster at that park, although a short ride.

Both the GCI restoration of GhostRider at Knott's and the recently announced new trains on Thunderhawk at Dorney make me hopeful that something will eventually be done with either of the two wooden coasters at Cedar Point.

Heresy! Blue Streak is perfect just as it is. :-)
