MF/Steel Dragon 2000

Does anyone know why Steel Dragon 2000 is SBNO? It took a lot of MF's records when it first opened. Does anybody know what happened?

One of the trains partialy de-railed and killed people. I forget the exact details. I personally think its superstition thats kept the ride closed this long.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I'm pretty sure there wasn't any fatalities.

Oh, my bad. I thought I heard somewhere that people died. Maybe I'm thinking of something else that happened around that time?

I guess the wheel just fell off.

The wheel fell off, the train derailed, and now they are afraid to run it again.

Japan has a very different outlook at things and the tallest, fastest, and longest coaster in the world derailing isn't taken lightly. It's to bad though, SD2K looks like a great ride.

I'm sure it'll reopen, but doesn't look like it will anytime soon.

Maybe CF will buy it and put it in at MiA. :)

The longer it sits there not running, the more chances of there being problems when it re-opens, its common sense when you leave a huge steal coaster unattended for a matter of years your only causing more problems...

Top Thrill Dragster....Always number one

Who says it is unattended? They may be working on the problem. I just don't see them letting something that cost them that much sit without them thinking of some way to fix it.

Its called superstition, and superstition/religion takes importance over money over there. I'm pretty sure that if an Isuzu plant experienced several unexplained deaths within a few weeks, my guess is superstition would kick in and it would take a while for it to open back up to full production.

I was on a buisness trip over there in late 2000 and I had a extra day and I went to Nagashima Spa Land and rode it. It was a very good ride but the train seamed a little too loose on the track and it seamed to bounce around a lot. I t was a amazing ride but the lift was a killer when you entered the lift the train ahead of you was getting to the top and it was a little scary because the train was still there for about 10 to 15 seconds and its like what if it comes back (know It won't). Also it felt weird where you went to the second chain it was not smooth and felt that the second chain was slightly faster.

What if it rolled back? That's what the anti-rollback devices are for.

He said he knew it wouldn't roll-back (not in so many words, though).

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

That ride seems like a giant Magnum though. It must take forever just to get to the top.

ok a wheel flew of hit some one in the water park. i dont know if it killed them put really hurt a few people

If I didn't know better, I'd think you used a browser translator to get that post straight from a Japanese site.

Noone was killed though. I've found differing stories of who was hurt, but they all claim that someone in the pool was hurt.

The differences come on who was injured in the train. The news article on CoasterBuzz claims a female college student injured her back. The blurb on RideAccidents.com claims a rider broke their hip.

Noone claims any fatalities. If they do indeed wait until the Year of the Dragon to re-open the ride, we'll be waiting until 2012 for it to be reopened. This isn't to say it's abandoned, they just won't let anyone ride it.

Goodbye MrScott

John

and the pay so much money for this ride to over $50,000,000 THAT MORE THEN TTD and mf put together

Man I would never ride Steel Dragon 2000! I don't trust the Japanese. If anyone on here who is Japanese......ummmmm......I love you.......

August 12th, 2005- Eminem and Lil Jon concert at Comerica Park.....I was right at the stage! 50 Cent sprayed water on me, Eminem was an inch away from touching me, and when the concert was over I walked outside and met Lil Jon's Eastside Boyz!

I wouldn't go so far as saying "I don't trust the [insert country/ethnic group]". Just say you don't trust the manufacturers, or the park itself, not a whole country or ethnicity.
