MrScott; unofficial Mayor of Lighthouse point

I hope I can be the one to check Scott's restraint for the auction riders. I only met him once at Michigan's Adventure, but I wish I had gotten to know him better.

Everyone that donated money, you truly make this site amazing. Each and every one of you has done something incredible for a man that truly deserves it. I can't think of anything else to say but I'm positive Scott's got the biggest smile on his face right now, wherever he may be, and it's because of you.

Walt,

Based on the total you posted the amount is now over $2000. A friend of the family wanted to contribute $30, but doesn't have a computer, so I made the contribution for her this afternoon after your post.

Over $2000, simply unbelievable !

Thank you EVERYONE!!!

This whole idea is awesome. I talked to MrScott of few times and he was very helpful in trying to plan out my trip to CP.

Our family wanted to write a post to thank you all for what you have done. I tried three times. I can't say it better than Lisa (our sister) did. Since it seemed to get lost under its own topic, I want to repost it here.

Thank you all. I know to the core of my existence that Scott has a grin from ear to ear seeing this all unfold!

"To All,

My name is Lisa, MrScott's sister. I am having my brother Troy post this message because I just had to write and thank-you all for your generosity. I have shed many tears reading your thoughtful posts, wishing that Scott was still here to read. But he knew. He knew what a special group of people you all are. He talked of PointBuzz often, and many of your on-line names are familiar to me because of those conversations.

The day my big brother passed away, the first thought that came to my mind was that we have to let his on-line family know what has happened. I talked to my brother Troy about it, and he said he had already let you all know. I thought how funny, that he would have been thinking of the same thing on such a sorrowful day. I now realize why we both thought of it. We both new from talking to our brother, how much you all meant to him. The donations for the ride has been a wonderful thing for us to cling to while we deal with our grief, but it does not come close in comparison to the kind words you all have shared with us about Scott, and how he has touched your lives.

I will miss my brother beyond words. He was truly a generous person. You knew of his love for coasters, and CP, but his greatest love was sharing CP and coasters with family and friends. It was Scott that convinced me and my kids to go with him to CP for the first time (as an adult). The only vacations I was able to afford were short camping week-ends with my kids. When we went with him, we stayed in the campground since I have a small dog. He loved getting his niece and nephew on the biggest rides, telling them about the ride while we waited in line. I was always surprised that they still rode once it was our turn! I am thankful for all the wonderful memories our entire family will have. His life was cut entirely too short, but the life he led was a good one. One of sharing, one of fun, and one of compassion and generosity.

Scott had never re-married, but as a single person, used the opportunity to take my kids under his wing and show them a good time. I will never forget the year 2000, when Scott took my two kids and me to Disney! I was a single parent at the time making $6 per hour. A Disney trip for my kids was never going to be within my reach, and Scott knew it had always been my dream to bring them. Being the special person he was, he paid for all of us to go and have fun together. That was the first time my daughter had ever gotten on a coaster. (It took a lot of Uncle Scott's convincing…and a bit of bribery) And it was the only 'real' vacation I have ever had.

Scott went with my two kids and me, and later my husband, our four kids and me - camping often. No camping trip will ever be the same without him along to stir up fun, although he will always be with us in spirit and in or hearts. Rest assured, when we sit around the campfire and share stories, one of the stories shared will always be how the PointBuzz family came together during this family's worst of times, and eased our sorrow.

Thank-you all so much, you truly are a great bunch of people who should all feel proud!

Sincerely, Lisa and family"

Only Four more days till MrScott will ride. I will be there for the First Rides, I'm going to hold my head high for that moment in time when he does ride. This time in age, its a relief to see such generosity towards someone that many of us only knew through their thoughts and personality. This makes me proud to be a Pointbuzz Member, and I will continue to share this story with others around me.

Anyway, when will you you be putting in the bid Walt? And how exactly will it be doe? Just one Seat, or Two? Just wondering.

thanks again, Walt, for coordinating all of this.

I'm looking forward to pictures of the event.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

I am staying at LHP the 15th and the 16th and I was wondering what his favorite cabin was (I could have sworn someone said he had a favorite). I would like to see it and take a few moments and remember him when I go.

Thanks..

We Will miss you Mr. Scott

Why the suspense on the final amount, Walt?

I mean, you know what it is now, right?

Well, the bidding ends tomorrow morning. But, since we're not much for dramatic effect, the final amount is $2,230.06.

WOW

Now, unless they haven't updated the page in a long time, that should be MORE than enough to get Scott the first seat on the first train.

I can't believe we managed to get that much together. Everyone here is absolutely amazing.

Goodbye MrScott

John

So, any word if the Red Cross first rides will still proceed, after Maverick opens (hopefully) in June? I would be fairly p1ssed if CP ruined this for Troy and Mr. Scott.

Yes. The rides will still happen. The bidding will not end tomorrow, however. It is being extended with a new end date to be determined.

Edit: I don't see why we can't continue to collect money. I'll establish the PayPal link again and post it here in this thread.

I was just going to see if you could do that. Thanks Walt. There's always a silver lining to bad news. :)

Are you going to continue the collection again?
