New Gemini Midway restaurant (this might be it)

Watershed Distillery...Go get a bottle. Currently have the 6th batch of Bourbon they ever made. I've tried number 3 and then the 6th. Very big differences, you can tell they're still getting it down to their signature blend. But it's damn good stuff. Great for Manhattans or an Elder Bourbon if you've ever had them.

@thedevariouseffect I actually dig Hendricks Gin but just like the bite of Tanqueray just a bit more. It's funny how a few years back I thought that Gin and Tonic tasted like Pine-sol and now it is my favorite after dinner drink with a lime. (The tonic MUST come from a glass bottle for taste to me but my opinion). I checked out the pricing for the drinks on the menu posted and they actually aren't bad as long as the alchohol is not not "well" they should be pretty good. I am anticipating higher pricing though at CP. One thing I can recommend for you is Jim Beam Honey, we picked up our first bottle and I was sipping on a glass warm each night when I was under the weather and it was just so smooth. Just don't see that happening on a hot summer day at CP though lol.

Now we can sit and wait for the toolbox that will complain that this bar is too close to a "family ride" even though they have no problem piling everyone into the old minivan and eating at Applebees or Fridays that includes (Gasp!) a full bar under the same roof! :)

Manhattan is my favorite cocktail. :)

Admittedly, I have limited experience in the world of bourbon. I dig the spiciness of a Maker's Mark Manhattan, though I have no idea where Maker's falls relative to what whiskey enthusiasts would call "real" bourbon.

Watershed looks enticing. Unfortunately, Michigan doesn't allow alcohol to be shipped to the end user. The closest retailer is in Toledo, so I'll probably have to wait until our first trip to CP to try it.

Makers Mark is ok, but it's a mid tier IMO. Top brands for me in the Bourbon world are Watershed, Blantons, Bookers or Knob Creek, or Jefferson Reserve.

Watershed is my preferred however, I love the company, bottle, flavor, etc. It's been my personal favorite to throw in a glass with an ice ball and enjoy.

I've had Jim Bean Honey..I'm waiting to see how Jim Bean changes over the next bit to get their stuff, they just got bought out by a Japanese company.

A snifter of McCallan single malt scotch whiskey (adding water is a criminal offense) and a cigar while watching the sunset over the lake - just dreaming.

Is it possible that this new restaurant/franchise could be destined not for the Gemini Midway, but someplace else on the peninsula?

For example, a full-service restaurant/sports bar might go into the sadly (IMHO) underutilized Breakwater Cafe; this might make even more sense if the cottage expansion at the old Circle B is fact.

We've stayed not infrequently at Lighthouse Point and occasionally at Sandcastle, and from our experience, the lack of good food service on that end of the peninsula is a tremendous shame (especially given room rates).

There were rumors also late last season about Famous Dave's moving to the mainland TGIF location, with something replacing it in the marina. (Personally, I would -not- like this--Dave's in the marina is a great option and we visit often!)

Regardless of any rumor, it does seem that a well-managed franchise in the Breakwater Cafe would make sense. And it certainly wouldn't preclude some sort of fast service restaurant in the old Gemini games area.

In any case, it will be nice to have an additional (and different) food option at the park.

I think it's unlikely to operate as a full service sports bar/restaurant outside the park. I think it will be similar to the Dorney operation inside the park. I agree a franchise in the Breakwater location would do extremely well(though I hate most large franchise restaurants) when I worked there I suggested something like red lobster but that was years ago. I think it needs to be a nationally known franchise to draw people from inside the gates.

I have eaten at one their locations before and the food is amazing. It adds something completely different to the park and the area and I'm looking forward to it opening.

11 years.

I fell in love with Chickie & Pete's during my trip to Dorney last year.

Crab Fries & Crabbie Sweets... nomnomnomz.

Amazing addition to the park!

Considering my current inebriated state, a full bar inside CP would be nice. Riding coasters with this kind of buzz from downing a few Angry Balls (Angry Orchard Crisp Apple w/ 2 shots of Fireball Whisk(ey)y, great stuff)..Make for one good day

I just watched that video. I really shouldn't have. I want every single one of those foods right now. Hopefully at least most of those make it on to the CP menu.

I bet this is replacing Game Day Grill and is not the restaurant on the Gemini midway.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I really miss the fried chicken that was served at the restaurant by the old Pirate ride.

Local food like fried perch would be great.

And something like a good chopped chicken or steak salad would be nice.

I hope not, but Tony did say it was sports related so anything is possible.

"Sports Related" is ok with me as long as the meat doesn't have marks where the jockey used his whip.

It would be sobering (to put it mildly) to see what the price would be on the suggested concoctions listed here - compared to the same thing outside the park?

I'm not opposed to 2 sports themed restaurants in the park, and I don't think it seems all that uncommon to have 2 at almost the opposite ends of the park. Just saying.

Fish served at CP the first thing that brings a smile to my face now I just need opening day to happen! LOL
